The Space

Situated on the ground floor and next door to the kitchen, this comfortable carpeted double room has storage, hanging rail, double glazing, TV+freeview, wi-fi, central heating, 2 mirrors, bedside lamps, blinds, curtains and a comfy double bed. Bed linen hair dryer and towels are included. Great sized room for a couple or a guest wishing to stay longer.
A shower room with toilet is at the back of the kitchen, also on the ground floor.
Bedroom has a door lock - keys are given for access to the front and bedroom door.

The house has 2 bathrooms, wi-fi, large kitchen/diner, garden and free street parking.
Guests are provided with free tea, coffee, milk and juice during their stay. You are able to store food in the fridge and do your own cooking if required.

The 7 day local bus service is a 5mins walk from the house, on Splott Rd. Guests should have correct change for the bus as no change is given, single fare £1.80, all day fare £3.60. You can borrow an IFF card from me and upload money onto the card. Please see the CARDIFF BUS website for timetables+maps and fares. Where you catch the bus for the city, is also where you depart when you return. This service also goes to Cardiff Bay via the city centre.
A cab fare to and from the centre costs £6 approx.
Trains operate from Queen St Station and Cardiff Central Station.
A 7 day Airport Express bus runs every 20mins from Central Stn, costing £5 one way or £8 return.

You will also find local shops for food, cashpoints, a Post Office, two of the best bakeries and a leisure centre with library. Clifton St also has other eateries, Indian, Chinese and pizza and various food stores, Simply Steve's deli, and an internet cafe.

Cardiff is very flat and shopping is mostly undercover. Do go to the indoor market for just about everything, it's cheap, cheerful and full of Victorian character. Remember that St Fagans and the National museums are free and worth a gander. Tourist Info is bang in the centre of The Hayes and has an interactive history section.

Cardiff Bay sports a beautiful front and is jam packed with fabulous cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, historical sites+buildings including The Senedd and Wales Millennium Centre for concerts. Take a boat taxi around the Bay or walk along The Barrage - perfect on a Sunday afternoon.

Eateries, bars, pubs, and nightclubs are a plenty, especially down the St Mary street strip. Try Brains beer and the fresh Welsh cake stand in the market, you can try before you buy.

Splott is on the edge of the city centre but is very residential. It's a 10mins drive to Cardiff Bay, the centre and out-of-town superstores on Newport Rd.

N.B Parents with babies should bring along a cot as the house is not geared up for babies, thanks.

Guest Access

Guests can use the kitchen, both bathrooms, garden and lounge.
There is no side entrance access, this is a terraced house.
I cannot store bikes in the house.
All communal areas should be left clean after use.
I do not offer any baby cots/furniture.

Interaction with Guests

Good communication between guest+host is essential, so let me know if you have any dietary needs, arriving late/early or anything I should know about - it helps me greatly.
I give guests a map of the city and can also offer a Cardiff A-Z, if required.
You can ask me to book cabs, restaurants, tickets or call for local information.
I react well to a beer or glass or wine with guests. I love a good chat around the kitchen table, learning about other peoples' live's.

The Neighborhood

Splott is a working class residential district of the capital, just on the edge of the centre. I tend to find that I can easily survive via local amenities. It will contain necessary food shops, chemists, surgery, leisure centre, cash points, bakeries and cafe's - all in walking distance from the house.

Getting Around

There is a 7 day bus service that takes you to and from the city centre within 15mins. Bus No.11 is our local service.
A cab fare will cost £6 upwards, to the city centre.
You are able to reach the centre within 25mins by foot.
Central and Queen St are the 2 train stations.
Water taxi to+from the Bay and a city bus tour are a good way to see the sites.
There are many bus services within Cardiff: (website hidden)
When you reach the centre, it's totally flat, compact and easily accessible.
Guests can hire bikes and join planned rides.

Other Things to Note

Guests are given keys to the bedroom and to the front door, please keep them safe and don't lock yourself out of your bedroom!
Even though each bedroom listing has full details, guests can be under the illusion that I have 10 beds and bedrooms. To be 100% clear, I can accommodate 10 guests within 4 bedrooms, so you WILL be sharing a bed. There are NO single beds.
There is no side entrance access or garage, it's a terraced house.
I cannot store bikes in the house.
I do not provide any baby cots.
See my 'Guidebook' for recommendations.
