The Space

We have a double bedroom, with a private wet room, available for you to stay in, in our beautiful and unique windmill. From the end of May 2014 there will be a choice of rooms, our top room with private en-suite loo will also be available and you will also have private use of the wet room on the floor below. We will only make both rooms available at the same time to people travelling together who are happy to share the wet room.
The windmill is in a rural location down a quiet lane and has amazing views. Breakfast is included.

The room on the 4th floor of the windmill is packed with beautiful, original features. The room has a comfortable double bed, curved walls, a large oak beam, mullioned windows and great views. There is wifi, a DVD player (and a selection of DVDs are available) and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The only other room on your floor is a private wet room. There is a bath available on the floor below.
The top room on the 5th floor is larger with a dome roof, decorated with sheet music. It has windows on 3 sides and fantastic views. See our other listing.
We have a 1st floor sun terrace, which is perfect for sunny days, out door meals and drinks, and generally enjoying the beautiful views! If the weather is cooler we have a summer house in the garden.
We also grow our own vegetables and we have hens. With prior notice we can provide meals (breakfast is included). You are welcome to use our lounge on the first floor to watch television and relax.

We are just a 10 minute drive to two local town/villages Eccleshall and Loggerheads, and here you can find food shops, coffee shops, tea rooms, take aways, country pubs and restaurants. Please ask if you would like recommendations for eating out and we are happy to make reservations for you. Our village shop is 10 minutes walk from the windmill. We are just a 20 minute drive to Stafford ( 30 minutes to Shugborough) and 30 minutes to Stoke on Trent for visits to the Potteries. We are also well placed for visits to Shrewsbury, Telford, Iron Bridge and many other places. If you want something a little more modern and adrenaline packed we are approximately a 45 minute drive to Alton Towers theme park! There is space for you to park your car on our drive.

Our closest railway stations are Stafford (20 minute drive) and Stoke. It is 1 hour 20 minutes approximately by train from Stafford to London. Our closest airports are Manchester and Birmingham. With prior notice we can arrange transport.

  • Loved our stay in the windmill. Very beautiful surroundings and an amazing building.

  • Wonderful location and very friendly hosts. After very stressful days at work this was a perfect location to get away from it all. Katie and Chris were very welcoming and shared their unique home with us, even taking us to a local quiz night on the first evening :)

Our room was located on the 4th floor, I had thought it might be cramped but we were both very pleasantly surprised, great wet room too! The top floor will be ideal if they let it out for rentals with domed roof and 4 windows looking onto rolling countryside.

On arrival we were given tea an cake in the summerhouse where we were greeted by the resident and curious chickens :) Breakfasts were fabulous with everything you could want, we felt very spoilt that week. Thank you both for such a perfect break, never been to this area before and will return, great landscapes ... and real ales!

  • Kate and her partner were very hospitable hosts and the house is amazing. Perched at the top of a restored windmill the room one stays in is nice and cosy. The house has a massive kitchen and an amazing round living room. It's in a very quiet location off the beaten path in a typically English Country village. Lovely restful. Nice walks. Great friendly people. Would highly recommend.

  • We had a great short stay in Croxton at this fantastic converted windmill. Kate and Chris were extremely friendly and hospitable, and could not have provided a better and welcoming stay. It was really lovely seeing that this place wasn't only their B&B, but also their home, and this created a wonderful relaxed feeling to the whole stay.
The area of Croxton is beautiful and would highly recommend to anyone.

  • We had an absolute ball with Kate and Chris and really regret that we did not stay for longer. You could not meet a nicer couple. The windmill was a fantastic place to stay, the room was fantastic with a great bed and fabulous views. Kate was absolutely fantastic when we were running late and gave us great directions over the phone. We are novice travellers in the UK and put in the wrong address and ended up in another Croxton some 85 miles away. Hint for travellers in the UK double check what you program into your sat nav. If we come back to the UK we will definitely have Kate's windmill correctly entered into our sat av for another visit. Pam & Garry

  • We had a such fabulous stay with Chris and Kate who made us feel instantly at home and were interesting and very friendly hosts. Chris came to look for us when we got lost on the way back from the pub, how lovely is that ? Breakfast was beautifully prepred and the room a delight. Will definately go back.

  • We had an excellent stay in this windmill. Lovely place, and lovely hosts too. Recommended.

  • It was great to stay in the Windmill for the unique experience it affords and also to enjoy the views of the lush countryside from a high vantage point. More than that, however, it was great to stay with Chris and Kate. They are lovely, engaging, interesting people. On several occasions I found myself running behind schedule as I couldn't pull myself away from wonderful conversations.

Stay in a bland hotel if you wish but I would highly recommend Kate and Chris's windmill (near the little village of Eccleshall) as a more fulfilling alternative ( ... as long as you have a car).
