House rules
This place isn’t suitable for children under 12 and the host doesn’t allow pets, parties, or smoking.
We invite you to park your car in the driveway, and walk two blocks to Market Street / the Gaffer District to experience its restaurants, shops, museums, and everything else it has to offer! In the best interests of our guests' safety and comfort, we're limiting the building's maximum occupancy to two responsible adults. Guests may enjoy most of this spacious 3,000-square foot home, including the entire 1st level and the full bathroom (with jet tub) on the 2nd floor.

The space
We named this large single-family home in honor of Erastus Corning, an Albany financier and railroad executive who actually owned this property about 200 years ago. Erastus invested heavily in Corning, Inc. which largely developed the community in the 1800s. The city is best known as the headquarters of the glass manufacturer for industrial, scientific and technical uses.

Nestled in the historic Southside Neighborhood of Corning, the house was originally constructed in the early 1800s. The recently restored property has passed through prominent families such as the Nassers, whose patriarch was Corning's longest-serving mayor in the 1960s and 1970s.

"The Erastus at 145" is surrounded by tree-lined streets and architecturally-diverse homes. All of the necessities (dining, shopping, groceries, museums, library, parks, transportation center...) are well within walking distance through safe communities. Our neighborhood recently welcomed Corning Community College / State University of New York's Nursing Education Center and the brand new "176 Denison" high-end condos.

Guest access
The suite (consisting of a bedroom and attached bathroom) is located on the 1st level, and accessible from the front or back door. Guests are welcome to use the living room, corner office, dining room, kitchen, and 2nd floor bathroom. The paved driveway can easily accommodate two cars, so there's no need to worry about parking elsewhere.

Other things to note
Location, location, location! The surrounding area is one of the most influential factors in determining where to stay, given the convenience of nearby commercial and recreational activities. This property does not disappoint!

Our corner of Corning's historic Southside Neighborhood lies just two blocks away from Market Street's abundant dining and shopping experiences! We're across the parkway from the Civic Center, which houses the public library, police station and ice skating rink. A recently-renovated city park (along the Chemung River) lies just two blocks north. Denison Park is within a mile, and features a public swimming pool, Little League Baseball Field, playgrounds and pavilions.

Corning's Southside Neighborhood features more than 400 homes within a nationally designated historic district on the southern hill that rises from the center of Corning. Visitors who stroll along the tree-lined streets will notice a variety of architectural styles: Federal, Greek Revival, Victorian and Craftsman, dating from the 1840s to the 1920s. The world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass is a half-mile walk across a pedestrian bridge that crosses the scenic Chemung River.
