The place as described is not with the actual host, they've very friendly staff to look after you. The accommodation for me was for the price/quality not up to what you could get/expect for Ubud.
Its next to the artery road leading to Ubud and because of the renovated house the roof is thin and its very noisy, cars, motorbikes and trucks.
For a traveler alone its very far out of town.
It was nice to have seen the place- but to be honest i cannot be as enthused as reviews below.
The Sanctuary was very beautiful. The gardens were amazing and the pool was very clean and cool. The staff were very welcoming and kind. Pancakes in the morning were excellent!
What a lovely tranquil little village. Surprisingly private with the lush gardens and enticing pool. Service and breakfast was lovely, helpful and generous. Not alot near by but the markets, spas, restaurants and monkey forest a short drive. Could of spent a few more days in Ubud to explore. Thanks especially to Imade and his wife.
We were greeted by the lovely Kethut who was waiting on the road to aid our driver. We loved our beautiful little apartment and I liked the way that the bottom floor was open air. And you can create privacy by closing the bamboo blinds all around.
The bedroom upstairs was just lovely as well and it was fantastic to have the air con pointing directly at the bed. We hired a scooter for the whole time and it was a fantastic way to get around.
The pool area and surrounding grounds are just lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each day.
Would definitely recommend that people stay here.
The Sanctuary is an awesome place. The grounds are very peaceful and the staff is so kind and helpful, we felt immediately welcome. The banana pancakes for breakfast were so delicious and everything we needed help with the staff was there for us immediately. Wiuld definitely recommend this place to others. Only complaint would be the downstairs trek to the toilet in the middle of the night but thats a pretty minor issue compared to the value everywhere else at Lotus Lumbung at the Sanctuary.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay, some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered - well done and give them all our thanks for a great stay. Lovely little room and living area.
We had a fantastic stay here and everybody who looked after us were just super lovely and friendly. Inside it is very relaxing and the photos do a pretty good job of showing how it all appears. Although I think it feels even greener around the pool area that the photo now. Very nice.
The wifi was solid enough and didn't have fatal connection issues—the speed fluctuated a little wildly sometimes but usually kept consistently between 1-2Mbps, which seemed pretty standard for Ubud.
It is close to Ubud centre but the road up is a major thoroughfare from the south so even though the distance is totally walkable it is so busy with such a minimal footpath (sometimes none) that you're better driving. Thankfully the driver, Nyoman, who had been arranged by the hosts to pick us up from the airport was so nice that we used him our whole trip.
The road itself may be busy but don't worry, the place is far enough back that the trees in front shelter you from the noise. I can definitely recommend this place. There are some other rooms provided in this little compound and they all looked pretty great too.

David, my husband was a set designer and furniture designer for the movie industry in Los Angeles for thirty years and worked with the tops in the industry....Steven Spielberg, Jodie Foster, Robert Redford, Bruce Springsteen and many more. His built the Captains Chair for Star Trek Insurrection and had the most "ordered" bed in TV history from the TV hit, "Mad about You".
He designed furniture for many top Restaurants in Los Angeles from the Saddle Peak Lodge in Malibu to Malibu Adobe with Ali McGraw. His resume is extensive and his client list is long....Billy Crystal, David Hasselhof, Arnold Schwarzanegger to Keenan Wayans.
He has translated that skill into building ten amazingly different houses since he's come to Bali. Our house is amazing and you will see why he is so in demand!
I have a variety of interests that keep me busy. I have spent years doing spiritual growth work and now work with others with addiction and codependency issues. I love this work and the chance to give back what I was taught. I've been an artist my whole life so our home is filled with original art ( mine and others) and I have an awesome studio..Anyone that loves to paint will fall in love here. My latest passion is teaching Zumba, What a blast!
As you can see, we are both loving our life and filling the hours manifesting our dreams. We both are creative artists and love to explore the world and the people in it.
Since we've been in Bali we've been taking in South East Asia. We love Vietnam, and Thailand for their amazing cuisine.
We are frequently traveling, so we are sorry that we don't get to meet all our guests, but we leave you in the hands of an amazing staff and manager, Eko and Sakming, who will be your contact people.
