Lewes is a historical town, situated near Brighton and is packed with history, charm and character. It was the site of the Battle of Lewes and famous for its castle, Guy Fawkes and the home of Anne of Cleaves. Nearby is Hever Castle, home of Anne Boleyn, the Bluebell Steam Railway, recently extended to East Grinstead and the N.T. gardens of Sheffield Park.
There are three local pubs which also serve food should you wish to have a meal there and a good indian restaurant.
Transport wise, there are 3 stations nearby - Lewes and Haywards Heath 15 minutes drive away and Uckfield station 10 minutes drive away.
Rita was a fantastic host. She welcomed us with tea. She is knowledgeable about the surrounding areas which made it easy for us to explore. The neighbourhoods was peaceful and quiet. In all, we had wonderful time. We highly recommend staying at Rita's place.
So lovely, felt very looked after. Great communication with Rita (who really is a super host) beforehand. Would recommend and look to use again.
We read the reviews and they were all right, Rita, the comfort and the breakfast were all great. Lovely bathroom too!
Rita was a lovely host and the house plus the room were just as described - very clean and tidy! The location is also great and the full English breakfast in the morning was amazing.
Rita hosted me at very short notice after I had to alter my travel plans. Had a warm welcome with a cup of tea. I took my hot shower in an immaculate bathroom and headed into the lovely friendly village upon Rita's helpful recommendation. I returned for an early night and slept soundly. Rita prepared my breakfast earlier than we had previously agreed due to rail disruptions, and it was lovely. What a fantastic introduction to AirB&B for me.
We were invited to England for a wedding in Danehill and needed a comfortable place to stay near by. We stayed 4 nights with Rita and it was just lovely! She could not have been nicer and we felt right at home. She asked what we wanted for breakfast, she gave us a key so we could come and go as we pleased and when we left she was so kind to give us a piece of homemade tea fruit cake (which was very tasty) for on our way to the airport. Loved the morning coffee in the beautiful garden and the good nights sleep in our spacious bedroom. It was all very clean and we would recommend anyone to stay at Rita's. Great value for money, just the way Dutch people like it! Thank you Rita!
What a lovely location and host!! My wife and I stayed with Rita for 2 weeks whilst waiting to move into our rental and she couldn't have been any more accommodating! We had a great stay, the house and room were lovely, very comfortable bed and the village is perfect with 3 pubs, post office and corner shop within a short walking distance. We would highly recommend staying here!

I am semi retired, having enjoyed a successful career in Purchasing and Vendor Management. I have travelled extensively and my favourite destinations are Canada, New Zealand and India. With a soft spot for Scotland despite the weather!!
I like to read, cook and go to the theatre. I especially like musicals and have seen most productions either in London or locally at Brighton and Eastbourne.
I am a very welcoming hostess and have recently had friends staying from Canada and Austalia. I am very good at itineraries and know a lot about the local area. Am a member of both the National Trust and English Heritage and do voluntary work at Standen for the NT.
