Listen to the creek and the frogs at night, cook over the fire, walk around the farm and see pigs, donkeys, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, geese, and more. The camping shelter is a 5-10 minute creekside walk to all that Saxapahaw has to offer - world class music venue, microbrews, farm to table restaurants, and the Haw River! It's got a roof and three sides and does not require a tent for camping.
It sits high on a bluff over Motes Creek and has a private feel and a lovely view in all seasons

The space
The camping platform is built with wonderful heart pine floor boards from the renovated textile mill in Saxapahaw. It's in a private space with three walls and an open side that faces a beautiful creek and very old beech trees. There is no bed - it's just a camp shelter. The shelter is 7 ft by 10ft. It's designed for those who want to camp but not necessarily use a tent. You can set up a tent if you'd like however we do not have many mosquitos or biting bugs. Unless we get an extremely hard rain, the shelter stays dry. It's very steep off the platform, so be careful if you want to venture to the creek from the shelter. There is no power in the shelter, but there is an outlet nearby and an outhouse. You can also access water nearby. You can find everything with the map in the photos on this listing. The shelter is just up the trail from a meadow with the yurt and purple bus that are also available on Airbnb and near another meadow which has a couple camping platforms. Not suitable for small kids as it's by a steep ledge.

Guest access
Guests can walk the farm and follow path along the creek to town. Please stay out of animal pastures and pens and know the electric fences are on and will shock when handled.

A senior project in high school lead Eliza to farming, as she worked side by side with an Amish family. She has had a long history with animals, from rehabilitating seals and sea lions in California, studying catfish and cancer at Duke University, and rehabilitating songbird/raptor and small mammals in North Carolina. After the birth of her twins in 2000, NC A & T University hired Eliza to manage outdoor hog herds, and she worked with Niman Ranch, Heifer International, and the Golden LEAF Foundation – focusing on transitioning long time tobacco farmers across the state into family pig farms. Left Bank Butchery, the whole animal butcher shop in Saxapahaw sells only her pork products. Be sure to check it out when you are in town!
