The room occupies the whole top floor of the house, with French windows onto a balcony at the front with sky views. It is about 15 sq. feet, with light entering from both ends. The room has a double bed, so it's suitable for a single guest or a couple. Bed linen and towels are provided. There's wifi internet and the room has a TV, table and desk, cupboard and hanging space. The room contains the belongings of our 23 year old daughter, who is away at University, but will be kept clean and tidy.
The house, a typical Victorian terrace in a quiet street, has a homely feel, a 100 foot garden and a lovely light kitchen. We do not provide breakfast or meals, however guests are welcome to use the kitchen. There is a shared bathroom with a bath and shower. There's free parking outside from 6.30pm to 8.30 am.
There are great transport connections. There are loads of buses, and it takes 20 minutes to Central London. Angel Tube (Northern line) is a 15 minute bus ride. We are within walking distance of Canonbury station (East London line). The local area is lovely, with lots of cafes, restaurants, independent shops and Clissold Park.
We provide an Oyster card for guests to use. This is the cheapest way to use Public Transport in London.
Guests will share our family bathroom. We've never had a problem with negotiating time of use in the mornings! Although we do not provide breakfast or other meals, guests are welcome to use the kitchen for cooking and eating, and we provide cupboard and fridge space for groceries.
Interaction with Guests
We hope to provide a welcoming and friendly home whilst respecting our guests' privacy. Some guests we see very little of and this is fine with us. Equally, we are happy to have a chat if we bump into guests in the kitchen - but this isn't obligatory! We are very willing to share information about the local area and transport links if guests need advice or help with this.
We are happy for guests to use our kitchen to prepare their own meals, though would appreciate some negotiation about when, especially at weekends.
As we both work, we prefer guests to arrive after 6pm though this is sometimes negotiable. Also for guests to leave before 11.00 in the morning.
We are also a non smoking house. Thanks.
Anne ist eine sehr nette Gastgeberin und alles lief wie erwartet. Gerne wieder, Danke.
Truly outstanding host. Made me feel home from the very first to the very last moment.
The house is in very good condition. The room is private with a beautiful view (no attractions to see though). More over it is very clean and with sufficient space. The neighbourhood appears very save and is very quiet. Still adequate travel times to the "inner city". Anne provided me with everything I could have possibly needed for a wonderful time in London. The family is very warmhearted and welcoming.
Great room, great house, nice neighbourhood, lovely family.
Anne and Jill was very welcoming and kind.
The house is a cosy, typical victorian style, and the room was big and clean. The neighborhood was really quiet.
The bus stop, to go to the center of London, was close and very convenient.
I definitely recommend Anne and Jill's house if you are planning to stay in London.
Had a very nice and comfortable stay at Anne's place. The room was even nicer than in the pictures. Highly recommended.
Anne's place was a real home from home. A gorgeous big room, with lovely atmosphere and space to relax when needed. I felt sad to leave!
Wonderful big, bright room with a comfy bed in peaceful, lovely household. Communication was excellent. I felt very welcome and also able to come and go with ease. I highly recommend this room. The location is quiet and well placed for exploring east London.
I felt like home in Anne and Jill's house. The bedroom is big, warm and comfy and the house is also quite big but perfect. You can cook your own meals in the kitchen (great views of the backyard).
Though they have a little daughter and a cat, the house is quiet and calm. You can have a chat with them while you have breakfast if you want to, they're comprehensive and helpful every time you need them.
Their home is well located, as there are lots of bus lines to the centre and to many other parts of London, there are shops and supermarkets very close too. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet.
I shall repeat here for sure!
Anne and Jill are a couple living in a 4 bedroom Victorian house in Stoke Newington, North London. Jill has a 23 year old daughter, Eleanor, who is away at University. It is her room that is available. Anne has a 5 year old daughter, Martha. We are looking forward to meeting a variety of people and would be glad to welcome you to our home.
