The space

Light and airy, with open views of the city, sky, and harbour from the top floor of a heritage building . Morning light on the skyscrapers, and ever-changing shipping activity, make staying here a delight. North-facing (in the southern hemisphere, this is the aspect that gives maximum sunlight). (All the photos are taken from the flat).

Very comfortable and well set up for your stay, with everything you need to eat in, if you wish. The flat has everything you need to make a convenient base for your Sydney holiday. Fully-equipped kitchen; free Wi-Fi; stereo, TV, DVD; coin-operated laundry on site; garden.

I may be out of town for part of this period. If this overlaps with your stay, I will arrange convenient key collection.

The flat is only 15 minutes walk to the centre of Sydney; great pubs, cafes, and restaurants on the doorstep. From here you can easily reach all the attractions of Sydney – art galleries, Sydney Opera House, Royal Botanic Gardens, theatres, cinemas, museums, Oxford St and Kings Cross nightclubs, Bondi Beach.

Excellent transport connections by bus and train — no need for a car. 5 minutes walk to Kings Cross Station.

Minimum stay: 4 nights; maximum 2 people. On-site laundry facilities, but no room service during your stay.

House Rules

This is my home — please treat it with respect, as you would your own. Consider my neighbours — and no loud noise after 9 pm, and no parties. No smoking.

Check in 1400 and check out 1000; but I can be flexible, depending on your flight times. Ask me.

We spent a very nice week in Davids charming apartment and felt at home very soon. And David was such a friendly and helpful host. He supported us to book tickets for the theater and to order a taxi in advance for our early morning departure. So we only can say again: Thank you D…

Great location BUT no elevator and the apartment is up 65 stairs. No air conditioning which is uncomfortable in the summer, The apartment is cluttered - hard to find room for our things. Paint swatches and painted patches on the walls. Felt like an unfinished project. David …

Response from David:
Re amenities: the listing clearly states that the flat is on “the top floor of a heritage building”, so some stairs may be expected. In the “Amenities” section, it clearly indicates that there is no lift in the building, and no air conditioning. It is reasonable to expect that people read the advertisement before booking. Ingrid bothered to ask about the size of the bed, but not about lifts or air conditioning. Re clutter: The pictures in the listing are an accurate reflection of the flat. Every room has ample clear floor space for moving around and living in. Every room has clear bench or table space for laying out your possessions. Spare drawers and hanging space in a wardrobe were pointed out at the time of the handover. On the window ledges is a collection of objects — mementos from my life, family, and years of travelling. They do not interfere with spreading out your own possessions. They are not “garbage”. The ad also clearly states that this is a 1 bedroom flat. The 2nd bedroom is my office/study. The house information guide provided notes that “This room is not part of the one bedroom AirBnB deal”. I also said that at the handover. So, why were you even going into that room, which is obviously off-limits? This is AirBnB: from the outset, it’s clear that you are living in someone else’s home. If you want a bland, anodyne, anonymous room, you’d be better off going to a bland, anodyne, anonymous hotel. Some people are better suited to that.
