From sailing on Derwentwater , through hiking to Scafell Pike to cragging on the cliffs of Borrowdale this area is: Quite simply, “The Adventure Capital of the North"
Cottage is just outside what AW Wainwright described as “The most beautiful square mile in the whole of Lakeland"
Good transport connections by bus.
There are few alternatives that provide a cosy comfortable dry nights accommodation in beautiful Borrowdale at anything near this price!
I find it difficult to accept bookings more than a month in advance as my own plans are often fairly fluid - please try to delay requests until no more than 30 days before hand
There are two bathrooms and two sitting rooms - so it's easy to provide an exclusive shower room & wc, and a lounge with TV & ipod dock when I'm not at home - as I usually let my rooms when I'm working guests have much freedom.
In the kitchen there's free use of kettle, microwave and hob for making Breakfast & Light Snacks. I'm not offering self catering so I do encourage my guests to dine out
Interaction with Guests
Usually very little as mostly I'm at work in the small hotel opposite. So I'm around if you need help or advice but also out of your way. If I'm on the bar that evening you are welcome to join me for a drink and share your adventures.
The Lake District - on a good day - the most beautiful place in the world!
Lakes, Mountains, Woods, Wildlife
Quaint villages and small hill farms with easy access to the buzz of Keswick - the tourist hub of The Northern Lakes - shops, cinema, theatre
During the summer there is a half hourly bus service from Keswick along our beautiful valley and twice daily links over Honister Pass to Buttermere.
Hourly buses connect Keswick to the mainline train station at Penrith.
Other Things to Note
If I'm not at work ; as I've recently "Come Out" as Trans* you may bump into my alto-ego - Nuala....who tries very hard to be both attractive and unremarkable - she's harmless anyway.
I don't like making rules but as I'm often at work early in the morning and the boiler is timed to go off by 11.30... this seems to be a sensible time to expect guests to retire by.
