Welcome to The Barn an idyllic farm stay less than an hour's drive from Sydney.

The Barn is a spacious rustic sandstone and timber hideaway with expansive views of pasture, river and the hills and bushland of Popran and Dharug National Parks.

Its an ideal place to get away and be reinvigorated in comfort. Enjoy calming walks around the property, relax by the river, go for a paddle, toast marshmallows in the fire pit or have a BBQ at the water's edge.

The space
The character filled barn has a fully equipped kitchen/dining area with a gas cooktop, electric oven and crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and basic utensils provided.

The kitchen/dining area has a fireplace and opens onto a large deck and lawn with BBQ, a firepit and expansive views of the property.

Upstairs is an air-conditioned spacious lounge room with a TV, an open queen-sized bedroom and a second bedroom containing a queen and single bed. The lounge room is comfortably furnished with a reading area and a TV viewing area.

A short stroll across the paddock to the river (we have almost a kilometre of river frontage) takes you to another BBQ area that has undercover outdoor settings and an open BBQ. Enjoy a BBQ (we provide the settings and utensils if you don’t have any), take one of the two kayaks for a paddle or bring your own.

If you like animals we have two friendly horses that are very happy to be patted, ducks, chickens and a small herd of very curious cows. The more adventurous will wander over to you to see what is happening. The friendliest of all though is our Cattle Dog / Kelpie cross who only loves basking in the sun more than being scratched or playing fetch.

If you are lucky you may see the pair of magnificent sea eagles that frequently fly up the river or the pair of spectacular wedge-tail eagles that hunt on the hilltops.

Close by is Popran National Park with walking and mountain bike tracks. Other attractions are the choice of two public golf courses, horse riding at Glenworth Valley or boat hire and great fishing on the Hawkesbury River. It is an easy drive to charming Wollombi with its great cafes and old pub, Wisemans Ferry with its famous pub or Peats Ridge with its café, farmer's market and Springs Restaurant. Spencer is about 10 minutes away for a great burger, fish and chips and coffee.

Tea and coffee are provided. There is a coffee plunger so bring your own grind if you can't live without your particular brew.

Get away from it all; we don't have mobile reception (you can get that a few km down the road).

Wi-fi which is OK for social media but not streaming (good reception from the deck and in view of the main house, limited inside).

Infants are welcome however we do not have infant furniture (high chairs, cots etc) or safety devices ( cupboard locks etc).
