A little about the area:
Just around the corner is Gloucester Road, a popular and lively area, renowned for its independent shops and character. With its abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants, there are plenty of places to relax and watch the world go by and something to suit every taste and budget. We are also just a few minutes walk from leafy St Andrew's Park.

Town centre:
A 25 - 30 minute walk will take you to many of Bristol's popular attractions - the busy waterfront with historic harbour; the city museums and art galleries; Brunel's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, the S.S. Great Britain, and the large, open parkland of Clifton Downs, bordering on the Avon Gorge; also the recently upgraded shopping centre, Cabot Circus, in the town centre.

Public Transport:

Our nearest bus-stop is just one minute walk away on the Gloucester Road (A38), and there are regular buses both into the city centre (5 - 10mins ride) as well as to the north of Bristol, home to the University of the West of England (UWE), GKN, Rolls Royce, Airbus, Aztec West Business Park or Cribbs Causeway Shopping Mall.

A little about us:
We're a family of 5. Two adults and three kids of 7, 5 and 1 years of age. The two eldest ones are in school during term time and come home at 4pm. All kids go to bed at around 7:30pm.
We have been hosting for some years now and enjoy the experience.

  • Sonia and her family were very warm and welcoming.
The room was clean and comfy. An enjoyable stay.

  • Although just for one night, we really enjoyed staying at Sonia's! The room is very cosy and warm and the ensuite extremely convenient. The couple is very easygoing and sociable, their children cute and polite. You just feel at home there. Especially if you are Italian as the good food smell is overwhelming :) Lovely family!

  • We were visiting our student son in Bristol and could not have found a better place for the night -many thanks to Sonia, Chris and their children. Comfy, private, loft room with en suite bathroom, excellent continental breakfast, where we could just help ourselves and such a friendly family.
    Thoroughly recommended!

  • Sonia and Chris and their children were lovely and welcoming and their room felt very homely! Thanks to them for welcoming me in their beautiful house and all the tips on Bristol! This has been a great place to stay.

  • Sumptuous and quality breakfast with family. Warm welcome. Neat and modernized attic bedroom. Enjoyed our stay in sunny bedroom.

  • Great to stay with a lovely friendly family, made me feel at home straight away. Nice quiet street and very close to the shops and cafe's in Bristol's famous Gloucester Road. The room was a nice size, bed comfortable and it felt a luxury to have tea and coffee in the room and my own shower and loo. Sonia was kind enough to recommend a walk to the nature reserve, alotments and City Farm, which I might have missed otherwise, all-in-all a great airbnb experience.

  • We were a bit shocked because this room is really small. I think it is too small for two persons. The bathroom is directly connected (no real door between room and bathroom) and it is the smallest I have ever seen. The basin is very low and extremely small. Might have been installed for a child.

Sonia was very friendly to us, her husband was not really polite. We used the TV in the evening, and the next day he was like "You were too loud, you woke the baby". Another day later they refused the breakfast with the comment "There are many nice cafes in the area".

Most of the fotos here show rooms of the house but not the rooms you can use. We were only invited to use one end of the kitchen table. The rest seemed private to us. That's okay, but it's not okay to show all these rooms on the photos connected to this offer.

    Response from Sonia:

Marcus was not a pleasant guest at all. I didn't write anything in his review because I had nothing positive to say.

He was a very disrespectful guest who showed little understanding of family life. Blaring loud t.v. late at night; loud conversations on the telephone; kept the children awake and they were frightened of his arrogant presence. Worst of all we found another strange man in our house [invited by Marcus without permission or introduction] - this left us feeling quite vulnerable as a young family and we could not wait to have Marcus out of our house.

Marcus expectation of what he felt he deserved was way beyond accepted standards for guests [as our very positive feedback from guests of the past two years bears testimony] - his late night high velocity night-owl behaviour was followed by his expectation of extremely late breakfast after 11am when we needed to get on with our own working day. To cap it all, he left his phone charger behind and requested we post it to him but was not forthcoming with paying the substantial postal charge after I had gone to the bother of parcelling up the charger and putting the postage stamps on it - he arrogantly said he'd rather buy a new one, with no appreciation of the effort I had gone to in order to return it to him.

Overall, a guest not to be trusted I am afraid. My advice is to decline his bookings and stay safe!

  • I had a brief stay at short notice at Sonia and Chris' beautiful home. Sonia was very quick replying to messages despite being away, and Chris was very welcoming, making my stay comfortable and giving advice on where to find restaurants etc close by. If I ever need to stay in the Bristol area again I'd happily return.

  • We had a lovely stay at colourful Chris and Sonia's house and would strongly recommend their place. We have especially appreciated their flexible attitude as our arrival was delayed due to the travel arrangements and were even given an option of a late breakfast!
The room had everything we needed and although we didn't get to meet Sonia and kids who happened to be on holiday, Chris was a brilliant host with a great knowledge of Bristol that has made our short stay worthwhile.

  • We contacted Sonia and Chris at very short notice and had a wonderful night at their place before returning home from our vacations. Although Sonia was on vacation she got back to me right away, Chris was a great host and the area where they live is lovely. Thank you!
