A little about the area:
Just around the corner is Gloucester Road, a popular and lively area, renowned for its independent shops and character. With its abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants, there are plenty of places to relax and watch the world go by and something to suit every taste and budget. We are also just a few minutes walk from leafy St Andrew's Park.
A 25 - 30 minute walk will take you to many of Bristol's popular attractions - the busy waterfront with historic harbour; the city museums and art galleries; Brunel's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, the S.S. Great Britain, and the large, open parkland of Clifton Downs, bordering on the Avon Gorge; also the recently upgraded shopping centre, Cabot Circus, in the town centre.
Our nearest bus-stop is just one minute walk away on the Gloucester Road (A38), and there are regular buses both into the city centre (5 - 10mins ride) as well as to the north of Bristol, home to the University of the West of England (UWE), GKN, Rolls Royce, Airbus, Aztec West Business Park or Cribbs Causeway Shopping Mall.
A little about us:
We're a family of 5. Two adults and three kids of 7, 5 and 1 years of age. The two eldest ones are in school during term time and come home at 4pm. All kids go to bed at around 7:30pm.
We have been hosting for some years now and enjoy the experience.
Children are welcomed, we have a spare highchair and baby bath
We speak Italian!
Sorry, we prefer not to have smoking guests!
Unfortunately we are unable to offer use of the kitchen at present. We have tried to share the kitchen with our guests, but since we are a family with young kids this has not work out for us and therefore we no longer offer use of kitchen facilities. The room has its own microwave and kettle and a selection of teas.
We had a fantastic stay at Sonia's. She was very responsive with questions leading up to our stay and accommodating during. The room was perfect for us. Also very centrally located.
My young daughter enjoyed being in an active family atmosphere and hearing the Italian language! Their house is beautiful and very convenient to the local shops. A very clean comfortable room, felt very homey.
We had a lovely stay with Chris and Sonia. The room is ideal - right at the top of the house and very cosy, with an excellent en-suite. We had a delicious breakfast and really enjoyed meeting the children who were as friendly as their parents. Thank you for making us so welcome!
I booked the room at Sonia's home for my mum and her friend who came to visit us for a week. They (and we) received a warm welcome from Sonia and her family. What adorable children!
It was the first time that my mum was using airbnb so she was a bit surprised at first about the fact that you actually stay in people's home. But it did add a positive touch to her experience. As the weather got colder, my mum and her friend did feel a bit cold in the room. When I mentioned it to Sonia, she quickly resolved the issue and switched the heating on for them.
In terms of comfort, bearing in mind that my mum and her friend are both over 60, they did find it a bit difficult to sleep on (and get up from) low beds.
For breakfast, they were happy with the wide choice on offer and particularly enjoyed trying out new things like date syrup! :)
Thank you Sonia for accommodating them!
It is always a pleasure to come back to Sonia's house. I have been a few times already and there is never anything that I would change. Thanks a lot again Sonia.
The family were all welcoming and hospitable including the lovely children. The room was private with an en suite and there was tea and coffee set out on a sweet little tray with kettle, cup and water pitcher. It all suited my needs perfectly as I was on a weekend yoga course within easy walking distance off the Gloucester Road. Breakfast was perfect and I enjoyed sitting with the family and having a variety of good cereals, toast and drinks on offer. I even got a fresh croissant one morning! All my needs were met and I felt if I lived closer, the hosts could be friends, they were so nice and friendly.
