The house is exactly as described, very quiet and private. It is spacious and has everything you would require for a visit (kitchen, bathroom and large main room) including lots of information about the area and activities you can enjoy.
Julie is very friendly and went to great trouble to make us feel welcome with fresh flowers in the rooms, and a little bowl of chocs in case we felt like a treat - small things which really make you feel you are at home.
The setting is unusual with the house set into the rocks. There is no view, but guests are encouraged to enjoy the garden, and there is a dramatic staircase onto the rocks and into woodland.
We did find it a little difficult to find, so we would recommend you contact Julie to ask for exact directions.
Altogether, a most enjoyable, comfortable stay and I would heartily recommend a visit. We will certainly be back ............
This place is totally amazing. The kitchen has everything you need. The room is absolutely tidy and comfortable. I have a wonderful night here. Most importantly, its really close to the castle nearby, like 10-20 mins drive. So the location is perfect for us to visit all these castles in north Wales. Hope that you would enjoy as well.
Geoff and Julie has made us feeling welcome. The accomodation is in the heart of Snowdonia and a good base to explore the area. We had a lovely time there. The hosts provide a lot of useful information including maps for exploring Snowdonia and the local area.
Julie was an excellent host. She made us feel welcome and took care of all of our needs. We loved the secluded woodland home and recommend it to others.
We celebrated our anniversaries (2&9!) in this lovely, homely retreat and had an amazing, awesome stay. Julie, Geoff and the family were really welcoming and were happy to chat with us, provide helpful advice about the area and beautiful stars (never seen skys like it!). They were also really accomodating and let us borrow their iron on multiple mornings!
The retreat was really easy to find (our satnav took us right there!) and is really well situated, being quite a close walk or drive to anything we wanted to do. Julie's guidebook on here was extremely useful in deciding what to do, where to eat and even where to buy the cheapest petrol, check it out!
The retreat is so well equipped, us city dwellers felt right at home and didn't want for anything. The little touches such as fresh milk, bread, chocolates, flowers and yummy Welsh cakes as well as lots of other bits such as tea and muesli made this stay extra special. Staying in this retreat and having such thoughtful hosts has helped us create special memories that will last a lifetime throughout our marriage.
We hope to be back, please let us know when you install the observatory to see your beautiful skys!
A beautiful location, a lovely secluded retreat which managed to be spacious whilst also being cosy. On arrival we were warmly greeted and given a mug of tea, perfect welcome. The accommodation provided a well equipped kitchen, a living room with sofa, dining table, and a comfortable double bed, and a nice bathroom. We even had the use of a magical secret garden at the top of some steep steps. We booked to stay here due to its proximity to Zip world, but got much more than we imagined. The location is perfect for exploring Snowdonia or heading to the seaside at Bangor.
As if the above wasnt enough, knowing we were newly weds our hosts provided us with extra treats for our stay. All in all our hosts went way above and beyond the normal to make us feel welcome. Thank you, we loved our stay.
About the Host, Julie
Living in the woods in Snowdonia with husband, two gorgeous boys aged 11 & 14 and 2 crazy cats Ron & Jelly, surrounded by nature and millions of stars overhead. Love meeting open-minded and interesting people and getting to know them over some good food. Love music, art and literature. Heaven is a good rummage around car boot sales or junk shops and finding a gem to bring home. House full of clocks, snowstorms, old tea sets, books, birdfood and fun. Everyone welcome x
