I spent 10 good days in Hayden's house ! He was really helpful, he helped me feeling at home for my first week in Australia. I would really recommend a stay in his house.
Nice place to stay, close to city and nice coffee shop and grocery near by.
Hayden is very helpful and easy to be with. We were there as a couple and we've been comfortable staying there!
Hayden is great host and really helped us when needed in advices and in getting around with sone unusual requests.
He is very generous in anything needed which is very important for us as tourists.
The location is fantastic - 5 minutes from tram to city center / to beautiful beach.
We highly recommend staying at Hayden's.
Great palce to stay, close to shops and town. Hayden was a great host and his family, all three small dogs, were absolutly no problem. Would stay here again.
I was declined the room I was after here and then subsequently offered a double room instead. At the same price, I accepted.
It turned out to be Hayden's room, which is a mezzanine above the sitting room. Hayden is a smoker and although he didn't smoke in the house while I was there the smell of it is in everything, noticeably the blankets and towels.
Movement inside some areas of the property is monitored by cctv.
The house is littered with units that spray chemical fragrance everywhere. They’re ‘active’ rather than ‘passive’ units that appear to have motion sensors attached. If some windows could be opened it may have helped but Hayden has a thing about security.
The television is always on, right through the day and night, as Hayden isn't working. It's turned off when he goes out and when he sleeps.
The bathroom and lavatory are filthy. The lavatory bowl is highlighted by a buildup of brown mould, which is also in the odd corner of the bathroom, and the shower tiles on the floor have either black mortar or are just dirty. All of that is easy to clean and for the week I was there I failed to understand why he didn't do something.
The kitchen floor was sticky, so my feet never came out of my shoes.
And as for being friendly that lasted until I failed to lock the doors from the inside when it was just me in the place.
And then there are various comments about not putting too much water in the kettle, not using the lights and other good power-saving hints despite the television running all day.
There's no space to put your own food. And little space in the fridge. It's a mini-fridge as well, which makes it worse.
The table to eat off is covered in things and means finding, with varying degrees of success, a small spot amongst it all.
The room he normally lets out is at the back and looks ok. Certainly it has the privacy that this double-bedroom mezzanine lacks. And it has a door between the back room & bathroom and the kitchen & sitting room.
The wi-fi is good. It’s close to the supermarket, shops and tram station going into the city. There’s no traffic noise.
The smell, a combination of old cigarettes and air-freshener, managed to get everywhere, including what was in my bags, so after leaving there I’ve had to wash and clean everything
Yes, it's cheap. But even at that price there are places that don't ignore the basics needed when opening up to paying guests.
I wanted to get out after the first night, but I didn’t believe that airbnb would make it easy, so I suffered it as an exercise in endurance.
Paul was asked every single day "How did you sleep?" and "Is everything OK?", at every time he answered, Good, and yes.
He lied about the state of my home, and any mess he does complain about was caused by him. He ignored all the house rules, despite being told them personally, and having them written down on paper and handed to him on arrival.
Paul turned nasty when he was asked not to leave the front door unlocked, after being repeatedly told about security in the home. Paul used the complimentary Tea & Coffee all day long, and left a minimum of 7 tea bags daily piled up on the kitchen sink every single day. He did not throw them in the bin once, despite the kitchen being a common area for all guests and residents. After checking out, his weeks supply of used tea bags was over 100 piled on the sink. He left the bathroom and toilet in a disgusting state after using it each time, so it was unable to be used by others without being cleaned and mopped first. He stole groceries that did not belong to him, and then complained about the size of the fridge.
Paul did not complain once, nor have previous guests, though he did force himself onto my other guests at the time, and imposed himself repeatedly on them,.
Ironic he then complained about the stay here some weeks later.
Paul did nothing but complain about his life circumstances while here, and how hard done by he is in life. It is clear he is a complainer, regardless of circumstance, he will find a reason to complain about it.
One false review out of more than 20 guests, does not make the truth!
I would seriously consider if you want to open your home to this type of guest!

Hayden is nice and with 2 lovely dogs~ Quite close to city and peaceful place!
Hayden was a real good host, he asked us if he should pick us up at the airport and showed us the most important things around Adelaide.
He offered us breakfast every morning and even cooked one evening typical australian dinner with dessert :)
His dogs are more than cute and our room was clean and comfy.
Hayden helped us with every question we had and we loved to have a laugh with him.
Thank you very much Hayden and we can totally recommend his room to everyone who wants to visit Adelaide. :)
We absolutely enjoyed our stay with Hayden! The room and bathroom were very clean and he was a very friendly and helpful host. His two dogs are truly adorable and we loved to have a fluffy greeting when we came back home. I fully recommend staying with Hayden!
