About this listing
My cool, comfortable, quiet one BR apartment has a true city feeling! It comfortably fits two, is 100 paces from beautiful Central Park, has a bright 7th floor south-facing big-city view, cozy kitchen, great shopping & a NY minute to express subways.
The apartment has a bedroom, kitchen/dining, hallway and bathroom. A curtain separates the two main spaces and makes the bedroom a/c more efficient. Views to the south are bright and feature the classic NY skyline at night - there's even ONE tree in central park visible! Curtains shut out unwanted light in the morning so you can sleep in. You could put a third person on the cushions on the floor if you wanted. Kitchen has everything but a dishwasher so you can cook at home; all the pots and pans and knives and silver you'd expect are waiting for your culinary magic. The bathroom is small and the tub is really a standup shower, and the bathroom door is a curtain - so if you need more privacy in the bathroom than a curtain affords, this might not be the right space for you.
Guests have the full use of the space - I'm not there when you rent it!
Interaction with Guests
I will not be there at all.
This apartment is in the most desirable neighborhood in NYC - across the street from the famous Dakota (home to Lauren Bacall, Madonna, John Lennon, and other famous New Yorkers) and just 100 paces to the entrance to Central Park. You're close to the Boat House, the recently restored Tavern On The Green, and you can jog or bike or walk through Central Park every morning or evening. Terrific bagel and coffee and serious shopping abounds. There's a reason all the tour buses visit 72nd and Central Park West!
The apt is a four minute walk to the 72nd St 1/2/3 express stop, and a two minute walk to the 72nd St B/C trains. A few more minutes walk gets you to the 59th St A/B/C/D stop. And of course the neighborhood is littered with Uber and Taxi and city bus services.
Other Things to Note
Building has washer and dryer in the basement. It is truly quiet here, in a way that is surprising given how centrally located it is, with the exception of the occasional fire truck siren or distant (if loud) garbage truck.
The building is quiet; there are pets allowed in the building, so you'll encounter dogs in the elevator going for their walk with their owners. (I will consider a guest with a pet, but this must be discussed in advance - the apartment is not an ideal space for a large dog or a shedding cat, for instance.
Michael was such a wonderful host during my 4 night stay at his adorable, perfectly placed apartment. He was able to accommodate my early arrival and gave me a thorough tour of the space as well as a wonderful list of restaurant suggestions. Michael had the apartment stocked and cleaned before I arrived and was just a call or message away if I needed anything (which I didn't). I would highly recommend staying at Michaels apartment. Oh, and the view was absolutely wonderful. It was my absolute favorite part of waking up in the morning.
Another great AirBnb trip. Best two things: Michael is a great host. His note says "you are my friends" and that's how he makes you feel. Also, his place has large windows with a great view of the midtown skyline, yet the sight liberate such that you have privacy and the place is very quiet. I recommend this one.
Michael made everything so smooth for us--it was a delight to come in and rest after a long trip. He even set up tableware for us on the table so we could conveniently have a place to eat. The place was clean, all the instructions for how to turn on things and pack up were very clear. What a host!
Even before we left for New York, Michael was quite accommodating with information and a flexible check-in time. When we arrived at the airport (JFK), he provided us with perfect instructions for getting to his place using trains and subways. He met us at the door, exactly on time, and was a perfect host showing us around his place. Yes, it's small - it's Manhattan! Yet we lacked for nothing. Yes, it's a futon - and it's comfortable! We slept like babies! Oh - and he even sent us to the perfect coffee shop (which I continued to visit every day...) to wait for him, since we had taken a red-eye flight and got to NY very early. I would SO recommend staying here! Just a half block from Central Park and a subway stop; mere steps to Columbus Ave and just another block to Amsterdam, so there's tons of shopping and restaurants available. Could not have asked for a better place to stay!
I am really glad we stayed at Michael's apartment. Not only we loved the view and location, the place itself makes you "feel" in Manhattan.
Michael is also an excellent host. He will bend over backwards to make your stay as smooth as possible so I openly recommend his listing.
This cute and comfy apartment was truly perfect for our weekend in NYC. A 5 minute walk to the subway, a 3 minute walk to central park, views of the city out the bedroom windows at night...we couldn't have asked for anything more! Michael was so welcoming and conscientious. He was flexible with our check-in/check-out times, and when we arrived he took the time to show us around and make sure we were comfortable. He gave us recommendations for places to eat, was always just a text away, etc. You can tell that a quality guest experience is vital to him, and he did a great job providing that. We would definitely return!
About the Host, Michael
I love NYC and Maine and boats and running. I am co-founder of an internet startup because I like making things. Also a big reader, as you'll see from all the books!
