SUNNY ROOM, SEA VIEW & EN-SUITE BATHROOM
THE FREEDOM TO USE OUR LARGE KITCHEN TO MAKE YOUR OWN BREAKFAST
This is a magnificent bedroom with king sized bed and panoramic views overlooking St. Ives Bay and just a short walk from the town centre. There is also a luxury ensuite bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.
We are situated in a quiet and pleasant location with private parking for guests (something of a rarity in St Ives). If you are travelling by bus or train - we are only a short distance from both the bus and railway stations. If you are walking we are not far from the South West Coast Path.
Our Victorian, former sea captain's house is very spacious with light-flooded rooms laid out on 3 floors, just a stone's throw away and overlooking the beautiful Porthminster beach at St. Ives, making it a perfect location as a beach-side pad, with the huge benefit of on-site parking.
Please bear in mind that we are not a B & B ( we provide a bed but not breakfast! ). This is our home and you are welcome to make use of our kitchen facilities to store and prepare breakfast and snacks. In addition, there are many lovely places to enjoy breakfast within walking distance.
WiFi / Linen and towels included.
Our house is the ideal base from which to explore St Ives and the surrounding area. After a few minutes' walk down the road you'll find yourself in the heart of the town. Spend an afternoon meandering around the maze of winding cobbled streets (affectionately known as the 'downalong') and you'll see that there are delights to discover around almost every corner. A wealth of interesting independent shops, cafes and artists' studios line the streets leading down to the town's ancient harbour, where you can still watch the local fishing boats unloading their catch at high tide. Take a boat trip out to Seal Island to watch the Atlantic Grey seals lounging on the rocks and enjoy fantastic views of the coast and Godrevy Lighthouse, or try your hand at fishing on a traditional Cornish lugger.
And of course, there's the art. The Tate St Ives - art gallery - the flagship of Cornish art - and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Gardens, together with a plethora of small independent galleries, are all within easy walking distance.
A walk in the opposite direction along the scenic Cornish Coast Path to Lelant (and beyond) allows you to take in plenty of fresh sea air, as well as outstanding views of the rugged cliffs, glorious beaches and lush greenery that make up the unique coastline here. If your feet get tired, you can return on the branch line from Lelant. Hugging the cliff edge and offering unparalleled views of the bay and Godrevy Lighthouse, this is probably one of the most spectacular train journeys in Britain (and it stops at Porthminster beach).
Discover the famous locations of Rosamunde Pilcher's novels. Visit the beautiful counties of Cornwall and discover the real life villages and houses of Rosamunde Pilcher's imagination.
For plenty more information about the area please visit the St Ives Tourism Association.
No smoking in the house please.
We ask guests to keep their voices (and any tv or music) down after 11pm.
We do not normally accept check ins after 9pm in the evening.
The most important rule is that you should relax and enjoy the your stay in this beautiful area of the country.
If you are chilly we can provide an oil filled radiator for you to use as you wish.
We had a lovely couple of days in St Ives staying at Carolyn and Marks. We were in St Ives for a wedding so didn't spent much time in the house but we were made to feel very welcome and had everything we could need. The bedroom and bathroom are immaculate and full of charm with fantastic views. Carolyn was very happy to help with any queries both before and during our stay. Would stay again.
Carolyn and Jim made us feel so very welcome in their beautiful home! The room was absolutely perfect for us; from the bathtub next to the window with gorgeous sea views, to the fresh flowers left for us next to the bed. The house was in the perfect location, just a few minutes walk from the beach and from the town centre, and we never felt awkward about coming back multiple times in the day to get certain things, or to change. Carolyn and Jim were both so lovely and quiet! I really can't stress enough how perfect everything was - if you're looking for a place to stay in St. Ives, this is the kind of thing you're looking for, trust me!
We traveled to St Ives for a short break and I'm so glad that we chose to stay with Carolyn. She and her husband were especially welcoming and friendly and definitely made me feel at home! They also recommended some really nice restaurants and even went through the trouble of printing us maps! :)
The room itself was great - it had all the amenities one would need (including a hair dryer) and we had great views of St Ives.
Could not recommend enough!
What a beautiful home and stunning room with a view! Excellently situated for walking into St Ives and a very very comfortable stay. The best sleep we could have wished for!
5 Albany Terrace is a an absolute gem and so are Carolyn and Jim who own the house.
The sun streams into the big bay window and we sat with our baby girl overlooking Porthminster Beach in the morning, drinking coffee, before heading out to one of the great beaches around St Ives.
The whole house is beautiful and the guest room is no exception, with a lovely bed, furniture, small fridge and en suite bathroom. There's use of the kitchen which too is very nice.
We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely go again.
Carolyn and Jim were very welcoming. The door was open and they were standing in the threshold with smiles on their faces. Our suite was picture perfect, decorated beautifully, clean as a pin and with a view of the Cornish (website hidden). Ives is a lovely vacation spot, shopping, museums and good restaurants abound. Penzance is a short and picturesque train ride away. The room is just as the picture portrays. You won't be disappointed with the place or the accommodating hosts. Gratefully, Irene & Bert
I would leave 10 stars if I could!
Carolyn and her lovely family made us feel really welcome from the second we stepped into their home.
The room was extremely comfortable with a king size bed, coffee machine & kettle in the room, and a great bathtub overlooking the sea!
Everything was very clean, (I am allergic to cats and there are two in the house, but they do not go in the room and I did not have an allergy, so would highly recommend this place even if you are allergic!)
Carolyn was also extremely accommodating, always answered our messages very quickly and even let us check in earlier than planned.
We also followed her and Jim's recommendations for dinner and were not disappointed.
Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough and hope to be visiting again!
About the Host, Carolyn
I live in St Ives with my husband James and two cats. We love living here by the sea and spend any spare time walking along the coastal paths enjoying the glorious scenery. We enjoy tending our garden and vegetable patch, playing tennis and yoga and visiting the many great restaurants to enjoy the fresh local produce.
