Cozy rustic converted barn on a very private 6.5 acres in a very rural charming Vermont setting. Has beautiful views, park-like trails, and all the amenities.

The space
This home has the rustic feel of a real Vermont barn but all the modern amenities of home. The property affords total privacy on it's 6.5 acres, so you can just relax and enjoy being in a beautiful setting. There is one master bedroom. The other bed is a spring-mattress futon in the large loft area. It offers semi-privacy. There is a small back room and a plug-in remote controlled air mattress that can be used as a private sleeping area.

Guests have access to a gas grill, free firewood.

The neighborhood is in a rural setting on a private dirt road off of a quiet dead-end public dirt road. The farm where this house originally came from is just up the road and sells maple syrup and u-pick blueberries. However, a 5 to 10 minute drive brings you to all the shops and restaurants in Bennington.

Having a car is highly recommended. There is a small airport in nearby Bennington, and a major airport about an hour away in Albany, New York.

Southwestern Vermont is full of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, hunting, and skiing. The geography is mostly mountainous, forested, and rural, with classic New England towns and small farms throughout.

Owner does not live on site, but can be contacted 24/7 with questions or problems.

Guest access
Guests have access to a gas grill, free firewood, and 6.5 private acres, including about 2 acres of open lawn and another 4 of woodland that has park-like trails and sitting areas throughout.

Lars is a high school biology and chemistry teacher who loves his children, skiing, and is getting into kite surfing. Kristen is his wife, teaches electronic engineering at a community college, loves wind surfing, and is getting into skiing. They have owned this converted barn since 2003 but didn't start renting it out as a vacation home until a few years ago. So far, all of their experiences renting the home have been positive and have enjoyed getting to know a lot of interesting people. As hosts, they will be helpful with any questions you have (you can call them day or night), but will leave you to enjoy your experience in peace.
