A cozy one-bedroom apartment at a fantastic location for nature lovers. A place perfect in-between San Francisco (20 min drive), Stinson Beach (15 min drive), Mt. Tamalpais hiking trails (just walk out the door) and close to all Marin County, the SF Bay Area, and whatever wine country has to offer.

The space
This “in-law” unit is part of our home, but with a separate entrance.
However you may hear us, and we may hear you similar to living in a multi-story home.

It is perfect for a couple, small family, or group of close friends, and offers the opportunity to temporarily make it a home away from home, with its own kitchenette and full bath with bathtub.

It has a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a couch in the living room which opens up to a comfortable queen.

The kitchen comes with all standard appliances, including an electric range, dishwasher, and microwave. Coffee machine too, of course!
Important to note that this apartment is located at the bottom of 2 flights of stairs, with the steps being a bit larger than standard.

This may not be suitable for small children and any person who has trouble going up and downstairs.

Our home is situated on the hill above downtown Mill Valley. The road is wide and two lanes but winding and has no sidewalks. There is even some hiking on the hill that you can access from the home. Parking for one car is available in the carport.

The community in Mill Valley is lively, albeit small. There are several restaurants (our favorite is an Italian place: Vasco) coffee shops, stores, and galleries. The village is quite walkable, and if you are up for it, you can take the town stairs from our home down to the village center (supposedly around 700 steps). There is plenty of street parking, though most are metered.

This apartment is available for longer-term rentals. Please inquire if interested.

Where you’ll be

Mill Valley, California, United States

Mill Valley is a cute small village perfectly located in between all that the bay area has to offer. San Francisco is just 20 minutes south over the golden gate bridge, while the first Sonoma winery is just 45 min away. Our home is slightly up the hill at the hiking trails to Mt. Tamalpais.
While you may already have plans for when you are in the area, here are a few of our favorite Mill Valley activities:
•Stinson Beach: Stinson beach is a fantastic beach which is a quick ride away, and a magnet during super hot summer days. But as it is pacific facing, it can be much cooler, so do check the weather. The drive through the woods to get there feels like being in Hawaii and we recommend getting there early in the morning, either for a beach picnic or beer and burgers at one of the great joints – or later in the afternoon, to enjoy the sunset at a small bun on the beach. Bolinas Beach, one town past Stinson is a super hippie beach town and known for its gentle NorCal surf.

•Bolinas Ridge Sunset: Bolinas Ridge is halfway in between the stay and Stinson beach. You may go for an in-between stop on a hike at Mt. Tam, or pack your picnic basket, drinks, and drive from on the very winding road, which is worth every turn.
•Napa is a 45 min drive north of us. Besides going on a wine tour and enjoying the wineries, the town itself is gorgeous and a perfect spot for a day stroll, checking out the restaurants. The Oxbow Public Market has a decent selection of all various things being crafted in that region (meat, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and of course, wine)

•Sausalito: A well known little bay town, with lots of bars, restaurants, galleries and more. Great for a Sunday morning walk. From there you can take a ferry to San Francisco.

•Hiking: Well… that’s why many people come to visit Marin. There is so much great hiking in this area. Literally, you can go hiking all the way to Mt. Tam or Stinson beach by walking out the door and up in the hills in front of our home. Marine Headlands (Fort Cronkhite, Sausalito, CA) are one of our favorites as it accommodates little children. Right there is also Rodeo Beach, a favorite spot for surfers.
•Mountain Biking: Many of the hiking destinations can also be reached using dedicated mountain biking trails. There are several bike shops here in Marin where you can rent a bike, including Tam Bike, a short drive right down the street from us.
