Set high in the Wicklow Mountains on the edge of the National Park, Far Pavilion is a romantic studio space with panoramic views overlooking Glenmalure, the longest glacial valley in Ireland. This is a wonderful place to unwind and relax, to watch how the light falls on the landscape or stare at the unpolluted starry sky and then, refreshed, to explore and meet the unexpected.

The space
The Space
The accommodation is a handcrafted log-style studio, open plan with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table, living space, sleeping area and separate bathroom (shower and bath). Guests can lie in the king size bed and gaze at the mountain on the opposite side of the valley.
Heating is from infrared wall panels fitted with thermostat and timer.

Guest Access
Far Pavilion is adjacent to the host's house but entirely separate and guests have full private access apart from, maybe, a nosy horse, daring deer at dusk and dawn, a fox or an Irish hare if you are lucky and occasionally a herd of marauding wild goats!
A car is essential and the cabin is approached up a rough track from the steep tarmacked laneway off the Greenane to Glenmalure road. Parking outside. Outdoor shoes/boots a must. Binoculars a good idea.

Guest access
All of the property is available to wander around or just to sit and appreciate the scenery. It is possible to go for a walk up the mountain directly behind the property.

Location

Glenmalure, County Wicklow, Ireland

The area is renowned for hill-walking. The Wicklow Way passes by the Glenmalure Lodge: the hub of the community and local pub with its friendly welcome, good food and great atmosphere.
Glendalough with its monastic site and lake is 15 mins by car.
Rathdrum (7km) has a supermarket, Post Office and train station.
Wooded walks in Avondale Forest Park, Clara Vale & Deputy's Pass.
On the coast, Wicklow Town and Arklow are each 30/35 mins drive with the fabulous sandy beach of Brittas Bay in between.
Wicklow Gaol, Avoca Handweavers & Mill, Greenane Maze, Mount Usher Gardens and Kilmacurragh are popular too with many more interesting places to explore within easy reach.
At certain times of the year, the treat that is Bosca Beatha, the mobile sauna on the banks of the Avonbeg river in the field below the Glenmalure Lodge, is quite an experience with the brave plunging into the river afterwards followed by a restorative pint in the pub!
