The Space

Welcome To Gisborne....

Located in Gisborne, I currently have a twin room available in our home.

The room is nice and sunny and consists of 2 single beds . The bathroom is located right next door to your bedroom.

Continental breakfast is included

Your accommodation is located in a semi-rural area within the city. By car, it will only take a few minutes into the centre of city and the great local beaches.

Gisborne is famous for being the first city in the world to see the sun each day and is one of the sunniest places in New Zealand.

Located on the east coast of the Eastland region, Gisborne boasts many natural attractions and is renowned for its surfing breaks, perfect swimming beaches, and miles of untouched coastline.

There are many wilderness walks in the area, and the Rere rock slide is legendary.

  • Frank and Lorraine welcomed us with a homemade cake and tea, a really nice gesture after our long drive. We had a wonderful night's sleep in their lovely house, and enjoyed talking to them over breakfast too. They offered a private bathroom for our use, which was one of the nicest bathroom I have ever stepped foot in, and that showed how much they cared for their house and their guests. Frank and their dog Amber also showed us around his huge backyard, enthusiastically explaining everything along the way. Lovely stay in all, would definitely stay recommend to all!

  • Lorraine and Frank were wonderful to us! The beds were so comfy, we both slept so well. The bathroom is just next door to our room and was wonderfully large and had everything we needed. Breakfast was so nice, we spent it with Lorraine and Frank and learned more about their lives. Such genuinely kind people, hope we get to see them again someday! Frank, your music was so much fun to listen to. Thank you for the hospitality!

  • Quiet comfortable room in suburban Gisborne with separate but private bathroom adjacent. Lorraine made me feel very welcome , cooked eggs, and generally made me feel welcome...her husband even played the British and Welsh National anthems for me on his home organ! Off-road parking too. Have fun on the deck with Amber the dog and her toys!

  • Lorraine and Frank were great hosts - going well beyond what could be expected from a B&B. The room and facilities were clean and modern. Their section is private and backs onto woodland making it a quiet location. They were friendly, considerate and helpful in every way and we quickly became friends. Should I return to Gisborne and need B&B accommodation they would certainly be my choice. Thank you!

    Response from Lorraine:

We enjoyed meeting you both Amber is well at the moment but continues to help herself to unsuitable garbage from the neighbours which upsets her and she gets as "sick as a dog" but doesn't seem to learn!!!

  • We enjoyed our stay in Gisborne with Lorriane and Frank. They made us very welcome in their comfortable home. We appreciated their well stocked bathroom with all the extra touches. The home baked bread with home made preserves were delicious. Frank, a talented organist, played a beautiful selection of Welsh music for us that we enjoyed immensely.

  • This has to be the best value for money accommodation in New Zealand, with two of the loveliest hosts imaginable, Lorraine and Frank.

My sister and I had come to Gisborne searching for our ancestors who had been in the area in the 1800's, and were extremely tired when we arrived in the early evening after a long drive down from Auckland. Lorraine and Frank immediately made us feel very welcome in their lovely home.

Two hours later we sank into comfortable beds with crisp clean sheets and awoke next morning to the sounds of birds. Not a car to be heard. Our room had a huge amazing personal bathroom. If I could redo my own bathroom at home this is what I'd want!

Early morning cuppas and Lorraine's great breakfast overlooking the back yard without a fence-line in sight is really good for the soul. The backyard is huge, extending up a hill covered in trees and enticing walking tracks.

We were amazed at the beauty of the Gisborne area. Sitting on a bay called "Poverty Bay" I had expected it to be rather ordinary, but it wasn't! It's beautiful! The township is large with lots of varied shops, a great library and tons and tons of things to do.

We thoroughly recommend Lorraine's (website hidden):
Oh, and thanks to Lorraine and Frank we came away with good contacts for further detail on our ancestors.

Thanks for making us so welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • Lorraine and Frank are absolutely fantastic hosts! We really enjoyed to converse with them and Frank even played electric organ (harmonium?) - we have never seen this musical instrument before. They are perfect on all sides so we would strongly recommend them to other tourists!
