This sublet is located in charming, historical, and sometimes gritty Park Slope, what many people consider to be one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of New York City, on 9th Street between 4th & 5th Avenue. In 2010 it was ranked #1 in New York by New York Magazine citing its quality schools, dining, nightlife, shopping, access to public transit, green space, quality housing, safety, and creative capital. It was named one of the "Greatest Neighborhoods in America" by the American Planning Association in 2007, "for its architectural and historical features and its diverse mix of residents and businesses, all of which are supported and preserved by its active and involved citizenry". In December 2006, Natural Home magazine named Park Slope one of America's ten best neighborhoods based on criteria including parks, green spaces and neighborhood gathering spaces; farmer’s markets and community gardens; public transportation and locally owned businesses; and environmental and social policy.
In 2009 I moved with my family to a rural area north of the city, and when I am not visiting or working in Brooklyn I rent out my apartment. I've kept the apartment furnished and equipped so that you have what you need for comfort and to live like a local. It is a sunny, one bedroom 3rd floor apartment in a quiet, 3-family brick building. It comes fully furnished, including a well equipped kitchen, 100% cotton bed linens, and bath towels. All you need is a change of clothes, toiletries, and personal items. The apartment has internet access, a/c, ceiling fan, and plenty of closet space. The small but cozy bedroom is at the rear of the apartment, ie: no street noise, and overlooks the lovely downstairs garden and three grazing urban chickens. A sleeper sofa in the common area (not a private space) can open to accommodate two more people. There is no charge for children 12 and under.
The apartment is 1/2 block from the M, R, and F trains, which bring you to lower Manhattan within 20 minutes, and central Manhattan in about 45 minutes. Walk up 9th Street 4-1/2 blocks and you’re in the 585-acre Prospect Park (Brooklyn's equivalent of Central Park), the huge Harmony Playground, and the renowned Bandshell for live, free performances all summer. Within one block of the apartment is a large well-stocked grocery store, several pharmacies and banks, and the post office. Continue down 5th Avenue and you’ll find dozens of highly regarded restaurants (like the famous Al Di La reviewed in the New York Times) as well as tons of ethnic places (Mexican, Indian, Moroccan, Thai, etc), boutiques, coffee shops (Ozzie's, Gorilla Coffee), patisseries (Blue Sky Bakery, Colson Patisserie), and bars. Up on 7th Avenue, you’ll find more of the same, plus larger stores like Barnes and Noble and Starbucks. This is truly a great location from which to access most of New York City's landmarks, features, and fun. Also, it borders Park Slope's historic, landmarked neighborhood, which provides charming local walks and explorations.

Picking up the key was super easy. The place was clean and comfortable in a convenient location. I would certainly stay there again.
We had a nice stay at the appartment. Getting the keys and dropping them off worked out perfectly. And the appartment was really clean and it's perfectly for families.
Wonderfully central location to a great neighborhood. Up two somewhat narrow flights of stairs, the space is perfect for a couple but we had our teenager along and she was comfortable on the futon. Definitely a superior choice over a hotel, as you have a fully functional kitchen with full sized fridge, stove, oven. We walked all over Park Slope and found great eating choices, though Sandye the host is so helpful in her arrival email, chock full of suggestions. Thanks, we're looking forward to visiting again!
Sandye's place is located within a block of the Manhattan F train and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
This apartment was adorable, spotless, and super convenient to subway, restaurants, etc. Exactly as advertised. I was only there for one night but wished I could have stayed longer ... in fact the minute I stepped through the door I started fantasizing about moving in. Didn't meet Sandye but she was very helpful in advance with local tips, etc, and key pickup/dropoff was easy. Plenty of linens, fluffy towels, etc. Very, very happy with this stay.
The apartment was very welcoming. Cozy and clean. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was how clean it was and the nice hardwood floors. The amenities were nice, refrigerator, microwave, cute dishes and silverware, bedding, towels. The subway was just around the corner, and Prospect Park was an easy walk. I was there to run the NYC Marathon and easily found my way into the city and other areas I needed to get to for the marathon festivities. Also very peaceful not a lot of outside noise. We also felt safe in the neighborhood, walking to the park, local restaurants and the subway. If you drive, be aware of the parking restrictions and signage.
The space was as it was described. Good location -- 100 feet or so from the train. However, there is no television (something I just assumed would be available).
very nice appartment, cosy place. 5th ave with a lot of nice coffeeplaces round the bend. 5 stops by subway to central manhatthan
we would definitely recomment the appartment as a perfect ny joint
This place is an excellent deal and a great apartment. Lots of space. And very comfortable. Sandye was an excellent host. And it's so well located. Would definitely stay again!
