Looking for a house near trendy Main Street? My beautiful home is 12 years old and on a quiet residential street within an easy walk of restaurants, shops and public transit.
It has two bedrooms with queen-sized beds (both with private baths), a downstairs half-bath, living room, den/office, great kitchen with gas stove and 2 sinks, and a nice, shady patio garden. It has high ceilings and lots of windows, so it's bright and airy.
The house is three blocks from Main Street, a lively area with lots of shops and restaurants. Queen Elizabeth Park, Van Dusen Gardens, Nat Bailey Stadium (home of our great single-A baseball club) and a brand-new community centre with pool and rink (former Olympic facility) are a short walk away. It's also a short drive or transit ride to downtown, and you're within a few minutes' walk to several bus lines, one of which takes you to the rapid-transit Canada Line.
Laundry facilities and all utilities (hydro, gas, cable and internet) included, as well as sheets, towels and hair dryer. Ample on-street parking. This is a non-smoking home in a quiet neighbourhood and no parties are permitted. Maximum four guests per visit.

Back at the same place again after a couple of months. Still the perfect place!
Back to this great place for the second year in a row. This time, I brought the whole family (my wife and dog) and is was just as perfect as last year! Check out my previous review for more details.
We wanted somewhere comfortable, clean and quiet so that we could visit family members in Vancouver. But neither of us really likes hotel room accommodation and we like to see to our own food. So we decided to try airbnb.
This was our first time with airbnb and we were a bit apprehensive. But, my goodness, what a wonderful find Joanne's home turned out to be: clean, spacious, well-equipped and beautifully situated: convenient, yet quiet. There is a lovely, private backyard that is ideal for an informal meal or an afternoon's reading.
Joanne has been an excellent host, checking that we had everything we needed and providing extremely helpful tips and information about the house and neighbourhood.
Our first experience with airbnb has set an incredibly high bar for other places to measure up to.
We will definitely go back. Thank you Joanne!
What a blast! Listing was accurately portrayed on the website and was even better in person. The photos were nice as well. Joanne was very informative and helpful both before and during our stay (she left highly detailed instructions as she was out of the country) and everything was in great working order. Awesome location and very quiet with great street parking! A GREAT BANG for the buck, I would definitely rent here again!
We also want to mention our dogs were very comfortable here, and we appreciate the dog bed and dishes you left for us! Thanks, again, Joanne!
Joanne's home was even better than the description. She was very kind to meet us upon our arrival. She left us detailed notes about her home as well as information about local attractions and transportation. It was delightful to be able to open the tall doors out onto the back garden each evening. Many stores and attractions were within walking distance or easily accessible by the bus and subway. We had a great, relaxing time and would definitely recommend Joanne's home to anyone wanting to visit Vancouver, Canada.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Joanne's home, it was such a quaint home with lovely vintage features, such as her very cute door bell, her fireplace, and her O'Keefe stove! With two and a half bathrooms, it was great for the 4 of us, as we didn't really have to fight over bathrooms, and the beds were comfortable (as was the couch!). The only thing was, which is absolutely not Joanne's fault, was that we were cold! In LATE June and early July, this was not to be expected, and we're from sunny California, we were in no way prepared for the rainy drizzly weather. Haha. The photos represent her home exactly, in fact, it's better in person, and very very convenient to downtown Vancouver. I would say, about 10 minutes by car? Because our flight was delayed, we didn't get to meet Joanne before our stay, but she was so great, she has a very descriptive and informative instruction list detailing the home, and she is very available by email, text, and phone. We hope to stay at her home in the future if we ever head up again!
If you want a perfect authentic Vancouver experience, look no further! I've stayed at different airbnb locations, both in Vancouver and in other cities, but nothing comes even close to Joanne's place.
My three "must haves" for a place are good coffee, fast internet and a bed that's not too soft and can fit all of my 6'4". A very nice 15 bar Breville made my mornings very enjoyable, I could work very comfortably, both remote controlling computers and up/down-loading files. As for beds, there are two very nice bedrooms - I only tried the on in the huge master bedroom, and it was very comfortable.
If you want to cook, watch TV, or just be a couch potato, you will also find everything you need. Including a very nice view, through bright windows, out to the small but nice garden, with a backdrop of snow-covered mountain tops.
The house has a very nice feel to it - it's got something of a boutique hotel feeling to it, with nice touches like the same-brand designer soap and dishwasher liquid. Both bathrooms are again very nicely designed. It's very nicely furnished and decorated, in a very clean and nice style. You feel at ease and can really relax. I appreciate the fact that it's not too "private" so you don't feel like you're invading someone's home.
Joanne's place is very nicely situated in a residential neighborhood, between Main and Fraser, with good public transport nearby (Buses 3 and 8). Lots of restaurants and shopping within comfortable walking distance (go to Main for the hip designer options, or to Fraser for a look at the real world). All in a lush, green neighborhood where you can just enjoy all the plants, trees, flowers, dogs being walked etc (if you've chosen the right season and are lucky to go out while it's not raining).
Maybe I'm biased since I used to live in this neighborhood, but to me, this was really the best stay I could have imagined. Having the whole place to myself was certainly overkill, but considering how ridiculously expensive Vancouver often is, this was money well spent. I'd stay here again anytime, rather than cramped up in some downtown apartment. If it was for sale, I'd even consider buying it!
