The Dutch Touch captures the best Woodstock has to offer. Be in the Village and secluded at the same time!
This Woodstock treasure is surrounded by gardens, with Monet-worthy views, peaceful mountains and swaying pines. It’s your cozy and peaceful home away from home, yet only a short, pretty walk to the very center of the village.
Dutch Touch is the "brain-child" of artist, Manette van Hamel, an early Woodstock arts colony resident whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Met.
The kind of place one would expect an artist to build:
Perfect for a romantic get-a-way or solo retreat. Recline on your own deck beside a sparkling stream, soak up the sun, read a good book, or walk into town and visit the galleries and shops, or zip up the mountain for hikes, a visit to the Buddhist Monastery or a tour of the Byrdcliffe arts colony. Winter visitors will love the open fireplace, and the fresh winter scent of forest, hearth and home.
There is parking in the driveway
Interaction with Guests
We do not interact with the guests. Just to say hello and goodbye, and make sure they know to let us know if they need anything.
The cottage is walking distance from town. There are neighbors, but the place is totally private, and away from the road.
There is a bus from NYC that drops you off in the center of Woodstock. A 10 minute walk up the road.
Other Things to Note
We supply towels, clean sheets on the bed.
Some coffee Tea, sugar, salt, pepper. Just the basics.
The guests have freedom to do whatever they want as long as they leave the cottage as they find it. There are garbage bins in the carport where they can leave their garbage on the way out.
Martine was a great host and responded to questions in a very timely manner. The cottage was very cozy and had everything we needed for a great weekend out of the city.
What a wonderful place!! So perfect, so beautiful. The stream nearby is very inspiring. And Martine is the most helpful caring host anyone could hope for. Highly recommend!
Looking for a weekend getaway from the city we booked Martine's cottage. We had a great stay. I particularly enjoyed the morninglight coming in through the ceiling window and the fireplace. We had some trouble at first with getting the heating on the right mode but Martine was quick to respond and her husband came rightaway to help us and was very nice. I would definitely recommend staying here.
The house is super cozy and sooo clean. Everything you need is there. All the tiny details were covered. There were notes explaining how to use the fireplace and the tv remote etc. The shower had great pressure and lots of hot water during our chilly winter stay in Woodstock. All communication was quick and thorough. Would definitely recommend a visit to Woodstock and a stay at Dutch touch. And of course the location is amazing. One of the most precious parts of New York State. So many great restaurants and little cute shops line the streets of Woodstock. We will be back!!
We loved our stay at the cottage. Great location close to restaurants and shopping, but far enough away to be perfectly quiet. The weekend we were in Woodstock was very cold and the cottage was a perfect place to relax with a book or watch a movie with a warm fire burning. We didn't cook at all but the kitchen seemed well-equipped; as a whole the house was tidy and charming. We didn't get to meet Martine but she was very responsive to e-mails and left plenty of information to help us settle into our stay.
Martine is a superb host! I had an amazing experienced at this Dutch cute place. Its an easy 8minwalk to the main shops/restaurant. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay! And the fireplace was just sublime.. Place is as clean as it could be. Definitely will come back again. Thanks Martine.
An absolutely perfect weekend getaway. Martine was a wonderful host. The cottage has everything you could need and the fireplace is a wonderful feature during the cold winter. A short walk to town which has cute little shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!
I have danced all my life, and still do perform, and teach ballet. Kevin and I live in NY city and part time in Woodstock. There we live in the house my parents moved into when they retired. Now it has become our Paradise. I like to garden, cook, and spend time delighting in the surroundings. All this keeps us very busy, and happy.
