The Dutch Touch captures the best Woodstock has to offer. Be in the Village and secluded at the same time!
This Woodstock treasure is surrounded by gardens, with Monet-worthy views, peaceful mountains and swaying pines. It’s your cozy and peaceful home away from home, yet only a short, pretty walk to the very center of the village.
Dutch Touch is the "brain-child" of artist, Manette van Hamel, an early Woodstock arts colony resident whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Met.
The kind of place one would expect an artist to build:
Perfect for a romantic get-a-way or solo retreat. Recline on your own deck beside a sparkling stream, soak up the sun, read a good book, or walk into town and visit the galleries and shops, or zip up the mountain for hikes, a visit to the Buddhist Monastery or a tour of the Byrdcliffe arts colony. Winter visitors will love the open fireplace, and the fresh winter scent of forest, hearth and home.
There is parking in the driveway
Interaction with Guests
We do not interact with the guests. Just to say hello and goodbye, and make sure they know to let us know if they need anything.
The cottage is walking distance from town. There are neighbors, but the place is totally private, and away from the road.
There is a bus from NYC that drops you off in the center of Woodstock. A 10 minute walk up the road.
Other Things to Note
We supply towels, clean sheets on the bed.
Some coffee Tea, sugar, salt, pepper. Just the basics.
The guests have freedom to do whatever they want as long as they leave the cottage as they find it. There are garbage bins in the carport where they can leave their garbage on the way out.
Martine was a gracious but unobtrusive host. The cottage was exactly as described and very close to town, but it felt like another world as it is surrounded by woods and abuts a small stream.
We had a very lovely stay. Every little detail of the cottage was charmingly perfect :) alongside Martine is a very welcoming host. The place is well kept and in very good condition. Definitely recommend it a great place for a calm weekend getaway !
The cottage was perfect. Beautiful furnishings, comfortable bed, romantic atmosphere. The creek next to it was lovely. Our host, Martine, was very hospitable and yet respectful of our privacy. We got to enjoy the fireplace, adding to the ambiance. The kitchen was fully functional. I would definitely recommend to my friends to stay there. We are going to plan a trip back during the summer. Plus, it was dog friendly!
My husband and I loved our time at the cottage. Perfect distance to walk into town. Very cozy with the fireplace! Kitchen provided all we needed to make small meals. Very clean and presentable. Martine was very friendly upon arrival and we even got to meet her dog. Would recommend for a quiet getaway which is exactly what we were looking for.
We had a great time at the cottage, it was exactly what we were looking for - walking distance to town, charming, cozy, working fireplace, clean, and quiet. There's a beautiful stream outside the cottage, the picturesque setting really makes one feel like you're away from it all. They were wonderful hosts. This was our first airbnb experience, and we couldn't of asked for a better one! Many thanks!
We loved our stay at the Dutch Touch! Martine was a great host, and the cottage was cozy and comfortable.
Martine's cottage is incredibly cozy and charming. The photos don't do it justice. It was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. We loved the fireplace. The location was superb as well-just a short walk or drive to the main street in town. Martine was a fabulous host, very responsive. We would definitely return. Thanks for having us, Martine!
I have danced all my life, and still do perform, and teach ballet. Kevin and I live in NY city and part time in Woodstock. There we live in the house my parents moved into when they retired. Now it has become our Paradise. I like to garden, cook, and spend time delighting in the surroundings. All this keeps us very busy, and happy.
