Dear guests,

You will be renting an apartment with 3 similar double bedrooms, right in the Barcelona's most exclusive neighbourhood; El Born.

The apartment is situated in the Roman historic centre of Barcelona, on a short walk from the Gothic Cathedral, Picasso museum and the beautiful Parc de la Ciutadella, close to the beach and subway and surrounded by pretty cafe terraces.

Perfect for up to 3 couples, groups, large families or independent travellers, this is the ideal base from which to explore Barcelona in style. As you will see from the reviews, everyone falls in love with it!

We are experienced airbnb hosts and take guest satisfaction very seriously. Whatever you need; from fresh sheets to restaurant recommendations, we're there to help.

Here is some more detailed information:

---
THE APARTMENT

The living room has high ceilings, wooden beams and large double doors that open out to the small balcony to let the sunshine in and overlook the typical Barcelona streets. The livingroom is partly open to the clean kitchen, which makes the whole a spacious commune area. The kitchen is fully equiped with all utensils and a wooden dining table (great for lunch and dinner with good wine). - You might want to experiment with fresh ingredients from the Santa Catarina fresh food market just around the corner.

• Bathroom: with shower, bathtub and washing machine (rare in this area).
• Terrace: there is a roofterrace, so you can take the sun and eat your meal upstairs in the spanish sun without anyone seeing you.
• High Speed Internet.

---
BEDROOMS

There are three double bedrooms with in each room a double bed, night table and big closet. The rooms are clean and have (like the living area) white walls, high ceilings and wooden beams, very cosy and Barcelona style. Perfect to have a good rest after long days of strawling around the city.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Its all about location!
After a short walk you will be on Paseo del Born where you will find sunny cafe terraces, the picasso museum, boutiques and historical sights all clustered around the beautiful 14th century Santa Maria del Mar church.

The apartment is also just around the corner of the the Gothic Cathedral and the lovely Parc de la Ciutadella, where you can enjoy a morning walk in the sun around the lake.

Some of Barcelona's nicest cafe's and tastiest restaurants are all close-by. You will never get hungry, or bored, as in the street next, you are able to rent a GO-car to drive around the city and the beach is only a 20 min walk through the old town and harbor.

FROM THE AIRPORT: The easiest way to get to the apartment is simply to jump in a taxi outside the airport which will cost around 30€. If you're travelling along and want to save money there is a train link from the airport (T2) but trains only leave every hour or so (annoying if you just miss one) so it's easier and cheaper to jump on the blue AeroBus from the airport (7€ - leaves every 15 minutes) and then walk from the final stop Plaça Cataluña to the apartment (5-10 min walking).

BY TRAIN: If you are arriving by train, the apartment is right in the middle of 3 famous stations (all 5-10 min walking). Plaza Cataluña, Arc the triomf and the lovely Estación de Francia. This last one is also an excellent transport link to get to the beaches and some enjoyable day trips outside the city, for example, pretty Sitges, the Dali Museum in Figueras and the breathtaking monastery in Montserrat.

BY SUBWAY: The closests subway stations are: Urquinaona, Jaume 1 and Arc the triomf (all less then 4 minutes walking). They host the yellow line (to the beach) and red line (which connect you with the entire city).

    Response from Sanne:

I am very sorry if your stay was disappointing, I tend to host others very cheaply so they can enjoy the city from a very central located apartment in a local style apartment. If you want a slightly more luxury setting than that, you might have to book something less local and more expensive. The photos were taken by airbnb, I cannot do anything about that. But please, I have been living there for years, and I am happy the vast majority of the guests that I have been hosting agree that is is a lovely central and local place to stay in. Besides that, I had just bought new sheets and pillows for all chairs, cups, etc.

Noise unfortunately is an issue in the entire old town as buildings are outdating and need renovation. Construction companies are not allowed to make noise before and after certain hours or in the weekend. In the beginning of June there was terrible noise during the day, but I had no idea as I was in China doing volunteer work at that moment, so that didn't have to do with honesty. They finished before dinner time though so there was plenty of time to relax and sleep.

Fortunately, we have not experienced much noise from two weeks ago and on. Randomly during the day you can hear them now and then, but that would be no different to any other apartment in the old city center... During the evening it is also a much more quiet apartment then any other in the area. Lots of apartments have with traffic noise and bar noise. Thats why many families have had good stays in my home. Again I am sorry if your stay wasn't such a good experience. Just one thing, why didnt you get back to my messages? I tried to help? I have a handyman, a cleaning lady and I could have easily called any neighbor or the police if there is noise before or after certain hours and especially in the weekends! Best regards

  • Unfortunately the experience here was quite disappointing. Given the price the apartment was very basic and felt very much like a hostel and not a private apartment we have enjoyed before through AirBNB. There was also construction going on all around the building which was horrendously loud and made sleeping in either of the back rooms impossible. The roof terrace is also no terrace but a few chairs on the roof, we didn't use as the building was being worked on.

Sanne was courteous and polite throughout but we were hugely disappointed with the stay.

  • Sanne has organized her listing very well. She gave detailed instructions and we were able to gain access to the apartment without any pain. Inside the apartment, there was a lot of material/information/maps about the city, which was very helpful. The apartment was furnished with all the necessary items to make apartment-style living do-able for a traveling family with young kids (IE, a kitchen to cook in with all the items necessary to do so) It is incredibly well located, amongst great shopping, sightseeing, and restaurants-- with easy access to tourist sights and the metro. Thanks for our time in Barcelona. We love your city. :)

  • This was a perfect place for a small family on a Barcelona weekend! The apartment was nice and clean with lots of space for everyone, and a fully equipped kitchen. Very central and close to lively areas, but still calm and quiet.

  • Luckily we had a previous wonderful experience renting an apartment via Airbnb, as this one was a complete disappointment: it is a very basic, old apartment, with hardly no natural light contrary to what the pictures show.
My son's comment was: thanks photoshop!
Something else quite different from the picture: nothing is so "nicely trendy" (the white thin curtain is actually all dirty) and most important, you can't use the front balcony (you can NOT fit the small table), and the Terrace mentioned on the roof only has a rotten table.
Humid bedrooms and VERY noisy from all the neighbours.

The only positive points were: nice sofa, clean (but not "neat" as everything is old and used, including the toilet that tip down when you sit), very typical and busy street to discover.

  • The apartment was in a excellent position. Easy to get to from the airport. It was clean, and had everything that we needed. Sanne was extremely helpful and responded quickly to our queries and requests. Flexible and friendly. I would recommend to all.

  • We had a great stay in Barcelona and really enjoyed the city. The apartment was very convenient for your purpose and I really think that the price/value ratio is perfect.
