The house is situated 5 mins from the m60 ring road. This provides great access to the north, south and east via the motorway. It takes approximately 15 minutes to get to Manchester center by car. The airport is approximately 20 minutes by car (using the ring road). The Trafford center (very large mall) is about 10 minutes drive. Walkden station is the nearest station (5 minute walk). This will take you to Manchester city center in about 15 minutes.

There are two convenience stores on the neighbouring street (about 2 minutes walk). There is a very large 24 hour Tesco Supermarket about 2 minutes drive away.

Manchester city center is a 20 minute drive or 30 minute train journey; here you can visit the huge shopping centres, the city's museums, bars, restaurants and cafes. There are also various attractions that are within a few miles of the house, including The Lowry, a waterside complex that houses theatres, galleries, restaurant, café and bars. The Imperial War Museum is also a great way to spend a day. Blackleach Country Park is a 15 minute walk and is an ideal place to enjoy the countryside, take a picnic, go fishing, feed the ducks or simply enjoy the local (website hidden) is 2 hours by train from Manchester.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • This is an absolutely lovely spot. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we could hope for and the private garden across the street borders on magical. Could not have been happier with our stay!

  • Nine of us stayed here at the beginning of June and it was absolutely perfect. The house is big, bright and airy and the garden is wonderful. William and Sally were lovely throughout and accommodated our request for a BBQ even though they were holding a charity event at the time. I hope to return someday.

  • The house was exactly as described. The conservatory is definitely the selling point, the rest of the house is nice but the conservatory was wonderful for dinner and breakfast. It rained all weekend so we didn't get to use the secret garden although it looked lovely.

The shower on the second floor was not amazing, but the shower in the ensuite was perfect.

    Nothing to complain about.

However if you are looking for somewhere closer to Manchester this is a little further out and while taxi's arnen't hugely expensive they can tot up.

  • What was your experience with your host? Was the listing what you expected? What was their neighbourhood like?

    March 2014
  • Wiliam was uncontactable prior to our visit due to travelling abroad (which I was unaware of) but I eventually I used the emergency number which happened to be his lovely mum Sally and she was very helpful.

Unfortunetly many things were not as we had expected:
    1) We arrived to an engineer fixing the broken boiler, which he fixed but I was left to clean the floor (which had to be done as my 10 month old son was crawling everywhere!)
    2) Most of the windows were locked without access to the keys which felt unsafe
    3) The TV remote was missing which then meant that my 5 year old son was disappointed as he wasn't able to watch the telly or play the games console. Sally tried her best to find a replacement but it just wasn't possible
    4) The rug in the living room was covered in what seemed like animal hairs, which wasn't great with a crawling baby!

However, the house was spacious and Sally was extremely attentive. Everything was provided even washing powder, first aid box and toys for the kids! It was lovely to arrive to some yummy biscuits, fruit juice and milk in the fridge.

The garden was amazing and we spent some time exploring, just a shame that the zip wire wasn't available to use. I imagine that the garden would be fabulous in the summer when you can make the most of the BBQ and the gorgeous patio area. We enjoyed reading the information books provided about the development of the area- a lovely touch.

Location was great and parking couldnt have been any easier.

The conservatory was the highlight of this house for us, we spent many hours in this space eating, drinking and playing games. It was brilliant listening to the rain! And my son loved watching everyone in the allotements at the back of the house!

Thanks Sally for being so lovely :)

  • The place is very spacious for 6 person. The place seemed like it is just been renovated, hence it looks new, clean and tidy. We truly enjoyed having meals in the glass-rooftop dining area. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay.

  • What can we was definitely a perfect retreat.
Everything needed for a family of 5 was there. The home was beautiful and very tastefully done. I am for sure booking with William again if I were to come back to Manchester in the near future.

  • Great place to stay....William and Sally made it easy and straightforward. Nothing was too much trouble and it made our wait for the builders to finish our new house a little less stressful!!!.
Must add that the zip wire and the beautiful work they've done in the Secret Garden made it even more special.

  • Fantastic property and lots of space for our party of five. We enjoyed the reclaimed nature space where we could feed the ducks and swans. Sally was very available and we enjoyed learning about the area and history of the wildlife from her.

Hi there, I travel frequently and prefer the informal and friendly nature of airbnb hosts over hotels. I have two listings on airbnb and enjoy (email hidden) that i think fellow travellors will enjoy. The Manchester house is perfect for families and groups of friends. It has a large garden that includes a lake, decking area and 3 friendly swans. The London flat is ideal for travellers who want a convenient base in London. It has 180 degree views over the dock and is 30 secs from the tube. Both houses have good wifi, flat screen TV, board games and other thoughtful touches.
