Aside from the many things to do it is great to head back to the house and not want to leave .
1. This is still a private home and part of its charm is that there are layers of objects and personal items, music, books, magazines etc. that add to the soul of the place. Let your eye just wander and take in the visuals around you there are things that you will not notice right away. The lighting as well is part of the experience so when evening sets watch how the visual around you changes with the light. Please enjoy everything and return them where they were found.
(website hidden) sure and lock up windows and doors before you leave the house. for walks or for the afternoon.
3. If it rains or there is heavy fog please pull chairs with fabric to protection under porch. (Teak wood chairs can stay out)
4. Please only use knives on the butcherblock counter and cutting boards.
5. Make sure not to set hot pots on the the butcherblock counter
6. Please do not wash cast iron skillets with soap.
7. Be sure to close door to woodstove when leaving the room
or going to bed.
8. Leave ashes in the fireplace or woodstove.
9. Be sure to make sure all candles are extinguished when leaving or going to bed.
Dane's little cottage is absolutely magical. Every aspect is perfectly romantic and relaxing; from the decor, the thoughtful lighting and candles, the dreamy deck, and the well-equipped kitchen! We couldn't bear to leave the entire stay except to run into town for more wine!
The cottage is the ideal couples get away. Very tiny, but extremely cozy. We recommend you bring food for dinners so you don't even have to leave, especially since the road is a bit twisty and very dark. Bring cozy shoes and a robe to slip on when you head outside and then back into the charming bathroom.
We can't wait to go back!!
We had a wonderful weekend at Dane's cozy cottage in the woods! It was exactly what we were hoping for -- and expected -- based on the listing and reviews we read.
Dane's decorating was eclectic, warm, and tasteful, and we were delighted by all the small, creative details he sprinkled throughout the cabin. From vintage books and photos, to colorful lights on the porch, it was a pleasure to look around and soak in the charming ambiance of the lovely home he created.
Upon our arrival at the cabin, (it is best if you arrive before dark so you can more easily spot the landmarks that are part of the directions) Dane welcomed us as if we were old friends and made us feel very comfortable. It was nice to see condiments in the kitchen that we were able to use, along with a coffee grinder and three different ways to make coffee!
If you're looking for a cozy retreat in the redwoods where you can curl up with a book in front of a wood-burning stove while the fog rolls in through the redwood trees, then this is the place for you!
Dane's country cottage is indeed a hide-out and a retreat! We came up for a quiet, relaxing and cozy New Year's and that's exactly what we experienced. The position atop a hill and with clear views out of the trees feels very private and quiet, and we were able to sleep in, read, cook and never even have to leave the cabin.
We also absolutely loved the careful detail to all the lighting options - dimm'able lights, fire both in and out, and so many candles - as well as the authentic selection of 'things' around the home that make it both feel lived in and loved. The local wildlife was a special treat as well - birds of all colors, and the local sweet visiting welcome committee (in the form of a big tabby cat), Cinnamon, made us less homesick for our own.
If you are going up in the winter months, be advised to bring lots of warm clothes, it gets cold up in the Russian River hilltops!
Awesome place. Secluded but accessible. Highly recommend Dane's cabin on the Russian River!
Great location, well decorated and cozy. Dane did a great job getting the house ready and we appreciated it. Very relaxing time
Yes -so very welcome, perfect arrival atmosphere and lighting.
We had the most magical time at Dane's incredible cozy cottage in the redwoods. It was far more than I expected, having a perfect ambience and zen like experience to help clear your head. His place is so well put together and his property is amazing with an inside/ outside porch and woodstove, beautiful back patio and breathtaking views of the redwood forest. Hands down or best airbnb stay!
