This is a comfortable studio flat located in old town of Tbilisi (“Sololaki" suburb). It used to be a drawing studio for the owners of the flat who are both artists, but now has been transformed into a small studio flat.
The flat can accommodate 4 people in total. (2 people on real bed and 2 people on soft mattress).
The flat is special also because many decades ago a very famous person was living there - Konstantine (Kote) Abkhazi (born in 1867). He was the public and political figure. Kote was one of the leaders for a liberation movement of Georgia, the Committee member and director of the Center for independence of Georgia, one of the founders of National - Democratic Party, and the party chairman, one of the founders of Tbilisi State University. After researching KGB archives, he is known as a hero in Georgia.

This definitely one of the most special parts of Tbilisi - district "Sololaki". Although it is the old town and very close to everything, it is not touristic at all and populated by locals.
There is a big rock in front of house and a botanical garden behind it. There are many food shops nearby as well bread bakery, bank, buss stop, money exchange places, most famous restaurants with traditional Georgian as well as European food, etc.
You will need only 5 minutes walking to get to the Freedom square and Rustaveli street (the main street in Tbilisi).
Sololaki suburb is famous with its' historical wooden houses with outside Venetian balconies (architecture of 19-20 century) and multi-ethnic composition (in our house, for example, there are families from 5 different historical ethnicities living). This district used to be gardens of the kings and was made into a living district only later on.
While going along Sololaki streets you can understand why Tbilisi has been called “Caucasian Paris" – it is thanks to this special atmosphere of peace, language mix, cosmopolitan architecture of the 19-20th centuries. Tbilisi houses of that period by their splendour and quality could be compared with patterns of European “modern": ambitious owners ordered the construction of their mansions to the best architects of the city.
By the end of the 19th century Sololaki had become a prestigious district, built by bourgeoisie with fashionable residences and profitable houses in “modern" style.
It is worth mentioning that today's Sololaki looks like exactly as it did in those remote times and on some doorways decorated with marble crumbles, one can read the Latin writing SALVE (“Welcome") or surnames of the former owners. Some old people do remember the names of the clerks, major manufacturers, bankers and merchants, whom these wonderful houses belonged to.
Taxi is very cheap in Georgia and you can get around for 2-5 lari. Try to negotiate with a driver in advance ;)!
There are some bus and mini-bus lines going on Asatiani street, but most of other connections are available from Freedom square (just 5 min walk). If you need more details on local transportation ask the owners :).
