If you're looking for an authentic Brooklyn Experience; Look No Further! I'm an Artist living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I’m respectful, kind and accommodating. I share my unusual home with like-minded creative and alternative lifestyle travelers.
You are welcome to stay in my Bright spare bedroom. It accommodates two single travelers. I would gladly rent this monthly to the right person. The room is sparsely furnished. One Queen size bed, a single lofted bed, table, desk and small couch. The room does have a window, which is nice for the mind!
This is a sex-positive shared living environment and because of the unusual space, the sights and sounds of intimacy are not always completely private. However, respect for each other is essential and discretion is preferable.
I will provide clean sheets for your beds and warm blankets if you should need them. The room has plenty of storage space. It is private, comfortable and clean.
You have total access to my space, including the kitchen. I have a manually operated freight elevator that is off limits but can be used to transport heavy items if you require. I have fantastic roof access with beautiful views of the New York Skyline. Bring your lap top computer and connect to my WiFi. If you sit in the right space you can enjoy the WiFi in the open air on the roof.
Interaction with Guests
I’m a busy guy during the week and often we will only see each other briefly. On the weekends I have more of a presence, but not by much. I’m quick to respond through email and text if you need me. I’m glad to chat and offer assistance at any time. However, I am not an overly interactive host.
My Artist's Loft is located on the top floor on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a very safe and friendly part of Brooklyn to visit. The Franklin Avenue shops, restaurants and bars are just around the corner. Williamsburg and all it has to offer is just a short walk away.
The closest Subway station is the Greenpoint Ave G, also in walking distance is the Bedford Ave L and the Vernon Blvd 7. By subway, I am located 25 minutes from Union Square, 26 minutes from Times Square, 30 minutes from Central Park, 38 minutes from Tribeca and 25 minutes from the East Village. The B61 and B43 bus stop is only a block away and very helpful when weather is uncomfortable. JFK is one hour away by public transport and LGA is 25 minutes away by Cab.
Other Things to Note
Much of my furniture was custom made by the artist Jean-Marie Mauclet of JEMA Design and all my lighting is eco-friendly LED's.
Be respectful! Use your quiet voice late at night when others are sleeping. Turn off lights when you go to bed. Wash your dishes. Keep your area organized. Close the door behind you and be sure it locks. Make sure the toilet has flushed properly before leaving the bathroom. Recycle.
No running or jumping on the roof. Don't leave any trash on the roof. Do not invite a guest or guests over without notifying me. Be extra courteous to my neighbors.
Take care of the place and it will take care of you!
Lawrence's apartment is conveniently located in a nice neighborhood, only a 15 minute train ride into Manhattan. The beds were comfortable and warm (especially important considering the outdoor conditions during our visit) and offered a nice view of Manhattan. Lawrence is a friendly host, who was easy to talk to and willing to give advise. Enjoyed our stay with Lawrence and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly Recommend.
Lawrence was very accommodating, & his home is in a fantastic location. We loved that it's super close to the subway, many fantastic restaurants, great bars, and grocery stores. It's also a short walk to the east river ferry, which we took, & would suggest for the view as you leisurely make your way to Manhattan.
The room is very bright, as described in the title, and has an exceedingly charming city view! The top bunk was super comfortable! I would whole-heartedly recommend this place to generally very healthy, heavy-sleepers, who are okay with less than 100% privacy. The room is a great size & the futon is nice for lounging on after a day on the town.
We're so thankful for Lawrence's helpfulness while we were there, & were very pleased by the convenient location of his home!
Lawrence wasn't around during our stay but gave us clear instructions on how to get in and where to find stuff. The room itself was cosy and although we didn't explore it much, the neighbourhood was nice. It was also easy enough to get around to other places.
We were super busy while we were in town, so we didn't see our host much at all. However he was super communicative over text, and did a good job making sure we felt at home. His apartment is an amazing artist space turned apartment, and was really fun and interesting. There were a couple other guests while we were there, and so it almost felt like staying in a bed and breakfast. We really liked it.
I don’t have a problem with Lawrence as a host. He was nice and helpful. My disappointment was his omission of some facts about the lodgings in the posting. I would appreciate knowing that the loft is still “work in progress” . The ceiling and the wall don’t quite touch (yet?), so the light and noise from common areas are not blocked. The room is “brite”, but also very small and does not have a closet.
Lawrence was accommodating, the neighbourhood was safe and fairly easy to move around from there, we mostly took the East River Ferry from India station which is really close so we were 20 mins away by boat from Wall Street! The house was not what we were used too and I grew on us, there is some remodelling going on in the loft and the room could benefit from from TLC but overall it was was we paid for.
