HipsterShack Studio -1 BR Surfer Pad 1 block @ Beach on Marsh. Huge Studio 1BR sleeps 2 . NEWLY REMODELED. With a hint of BoHo Hipster surfer vibe perfect for your stay on Folly Beach. Private entry, queen bed, TV, kitchenette, full bath, bistro seating, covered outdoor patio, outdoor shower, outside grill area, off street parking, and plenty of storage for beach toys or surfboards....all just a short walk to the beach! We’re excited to bring you our 4th studio 1 BR called The HipsterShack.

The space
Hipsters unite!! And then fight for your right to chill in this NEWLY REMODELED crash pad!.... Thanks to some very cool, and might I say HIP friends who have been staying at our various RatherShacks for 5 years.... they finally bought a perfect beach house on Folly and asked us to joint venture this with them, so you win because this place is awesome. Meet Jeremy and Lauren. Jeremy works in logistics. If you need a cold one to go from the fridge to the cooler to the coozie quickly then he’s your man. Plus the last few times I drank with him on Folly he wore a different Pearl Jam T-shirt every day. Lauren works for a gaming company that makes one of the most popular video games on the planet called “Fortnite.” If you haven’t heard of it, your kids have. She can play the ukulele and is into axe throwing. Plus, she is one of the few ladies I know who can out drink me when it comes to hoppy IPA’s. So let’s just say they’re super chill and together we’re stoked to introduce The HipsterShack.
Your own hip version of chill starts when you turn onto a quiet dead end cul de sac lined with palm trees and Southern Live Oaks called Tabby Drive. It grows when you pull into your own parking spot next to more Live Oaks and native landscaping. With this estate looking beach cottage up on stilts you may feel like you’re in the wrong place because all you booked was a small 1 BR studio —but fear not, your pad is tucked below this gem of a house with its own dedicated entry. It’s the cool spot on the property. Let others get lost in the bourgeoisie of the big house, you’ll be zen ready for chill and grill in your own space below.
For a simple 1-bedroom studio you quickly notice something bigger: the huge outdoor entry area and covered patio with tons of space for your beach toys or surfboards. A place to relax before you even begin relaxing….. How cool is that! Double glass French doors get you in and flood the space with light, making it seem even bigger than the nearly 12ft x 23ft area. New drywall and bright white paint give it a fresh clean feel and the decor is Boho chic, hipster freak, surfer sneek(see what I did there .. you get the idea). Brand new kitchenette features a refrigerator / freezer, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster oven. A bistro style table and chairs allow you to dine just fine. We expanded the bath with a shower, tile surround and bright finishes. As you’ll see it feels more like a stateroom berth on a yacht than a McMansion master bath. You wouldn’t expect anything less here at The HipsterShack—this bath is just plain cool baby.
If a good night sleep is what you want then check out the super comfortable queen mattress platform bed with plush pillows, and romantic lighting and canopy. I was waiting for a contractor to show up the other day (he was late—go figure), and dozed off on the thing, and I have to say my short time in slumberland was sublime. Yeah, you’ll sleep good here. But be warned this place exudes romance so maybe you’ll be up late doing something other than sleeping. The big TV allows you to get caught up on the news or weather, or zone out with your favorite shows—whatever works. And with the newly serviced AC/Heat unit you can with confidence dial up your own ice age or global warming scenario here at The HipsterShack.
Outside you've got a covered patio area that's as big as any swell you'll ride at The Washout down the street. A dedicated hot and cold shower with teak trim will keep the island vibe going as you wash away the sand and salt. Then you can get your smoky meat and veggie fix at your own grill area. It’s a good amenity given the small kitchenette inside. If you want to cook Thanksgiving dinner with grandma and all of your in-laws you’re in the wrong place. But if you want a comfortable, affordable crash pad near the beach you’ve found it at The HipsterShack. Plus you'll have 2 beach chairs and 2 towels to enhance your surfside enjoyment.
You also get to take advantage of the luxury infrastructure of the main house… High Speed WIFI, a backup generator that will keep you cool and comfy in case of a power outage, and a Rinnai tankless hot water system allows for endless long showers inside or out.
Let’s not forget THE BEACH…which is why you’re here after all. It’s just a short walk down the street to the best beach access on Folly. The 13th St E access is one of the few on Folly with no parking spots; it’s just a nice path through a glade of trees that keeps up the tropical island vibe as you approach. Surfboards hang overhead in memory of some of Folly’s famous wave riders. Once there you’ll have the nicest stretch of sand away from the hustle and bustle closer to town, still with views of the Folly Pier in the distance. And because everybody asks…Yesterday I timed myself walking there (with a hangover), and did it in 2-1/2 minutes. If I can do it in that time at my age with THAT hangover, you can do it!. Oh yeah, and the best surfing spot in South Carolina and Folly Beach called THE WASHOUT is just up the road. So if you’re a surfer you’ll love it here.
The HipsterShack is about 1-1/2 miles from Center Street, and all the bars and restaurants Folly is famous for. It’s also 1-1/2 miles from Morris Island Lighthouse at the eastern end of the island. The home does not allow pets and is strictly non-smoking. Please note you don’t HAVE to be a hipster to stay here… its just a very cool Folly Beach place to crash. Hell, I didn’t technically know what a hipster was when Jeremy and Lauren wanted to name it that, so I looked it up. See below. The fact that you’re still reading tells me you’d be a perfect fit here.
1. Noun informal: hipster a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream.
