Staying in Lucas flat was great, we liked the location, the flat was very confortable and clean, and our host was available and caring. Highly recommended !
We (3 adults) had a lovely stay at the aparment! The aparment was just as described, the location was just perfect for a short visit and communication with Lucas was very easy. Even though we did not meet Lucas, his friend Taty was waiting for us upon our arrival (and was very accomodating even though I had accidentally informed us to arrive a little later than we did). Otherwise the apartment was very clean, but the carpet in the living room and some corners look like they might need a bit more work.
The flat is really central, just about 2-3 mins walking from Plaza Catalyn, the location is really good... but... that's the only good thing about this place. I did read previous reviews about how loud the place is but this is the reality, at night you basically feel like you are sleeping outside because you HEAR EVERY SINGLE thing that happens downstairs which trash truck picking up glass, street maitanance cleaning the narrow street it's on, etc. There's absolutely 0 insulation in the windows. It's on a narrow street, so basically there's not natural light and because of this, it feels damp and cold in the flat - we were there at the beginning of April, when it was already relatively warm but I don't know how you would stay there during the colder months. The apartment has everything, I guess, but the cleanliness of the place is pretty bad... dust and dirt in the corners, shower has some spots on the walls, the sofa has stains and the carpets just need a simple vacuum which had never been done it seemed. AND my kids had an experience of seeing their 1st cockroaches. The owner really needs to invest in the better upkeep of the place. The only thing I would recommend the flat is the location.
Hello Anna and thank you for your feedback.
Regarding the noise, yes the trash is picked up at night, however this is everywhere in the city and it is very difficult to get away from. The city is cleaned everynight by water as well to ensure the following day it is cleaned. It's an issue for most people almost everywhere. Regarding the insulations of the windows, we are already in talks with a carpenter to add double glazing to the windows and balcony doors.
Regarding the dampness of the apartment, this is another reality of the city of Barcelona. Homes are just not made well enough (especially in the entire old quarter) and this is an issue for pretty much everyone and it's worse in March and April. The apartment has plenty of heating however and with it turned on it should have been ok.
Regarding the cleaning, we have had to change our housekeeper as recently she was just not doing a well enough job. This is an issue which should be resolved. As for the cockroach, this is the first time I have heard anything (and have never seen one myself) and it could have come in through the balcony. I have looked everywhere in the apartment and none have been found.
I appreciate your feedback and look forward to others as it is the only way we can make things better.
Luca and Taty
The place was amazing, spacious and clean. Beds were incredibly comfortable and it was quiet as it's on a side street. The location can't be beat; we could walk everywhere and feel in the center of it all, while still being able to escape. Easy check in and out and lots of guide books and restaurant recommendations were provided.
Christie and her travelling partners were a pleasure to host. They arrived in a happy mood and were a pleasure to spend a little time with checking them in.
They left the apartment in very good condition and they are definitely welcome back any time.
Lucas is friendly and helpful. I called him from airport, told me how to get there and had a great conversation. Was very generous with information about Barcelona. His perspective as a Canadian national was especially helpful.
The apartment is cute and roomy. The location is unbeatable. The shower is fantastic.
However, for me it was too noisy, even throughout the night. The building is located inside a narrow pedestrian alley and that has the effect of amplifying the sound of everything that happens on the street. The glass on the windows is single-layered. Both bedrooms face the street and the air-conditioning is in the living room and too far to use to cover the noise. Even though we were 3 floors up, it felt like people were passing by right by the window. The noise, especially the sound of garbage men picking up trash and washing the street, as well as late-night partiers going home, woke me up several times each night. Even considered moving out early.
