Ruth was a wonderful hostess. We were looking for a "living like a local" experience and found it here. Ruth volunteered to pick us up at the airport, but we had rented a car. Ruth even offered us her car to drive while we were there!! The view was wonderful as were the island breezes. We never turned on the AC. We did not use the kitchen as there is a wonderful French restaurant, Le Bistro, within walking distance. Within walking distance is a convenience store and also the American University Medical School. Across the street from AU are several food trucks with wonderful local food - piping hot, that students, staff, etc. from AU walk across and get to eat. Prices for the food trucks delights was very inexpensive. Le Bistro is pricey. This is a no frills place to stay that is clean and has plenty of room, including a nice porch. Ruth was very responsive when we had a problem and even provided us a list of restaurants when we asked for suggestions. You can't beat the local atmosphere, view, piece and quiet. The Internet worked great - which is very important to us. We had a blast in Antigua - zip lining in the rain forest, hiking at English Harbor, kayaking and snorkeling. The food is wonderful. The price of Ruth's allowed us to be extravagant in other areas.

Ruth was a wonderful host who went above and beyond to show us around and feel welcome. She picked us up from the airport and was kind enough to give us a tour of the island on our way to the supermarket. The apartment itself is humble but the views are lovely and there was always a delightful breeze throughout. The 55 bus is a cheap travel alternative and fortunately stops right out front and takes you into St. John's where you can take buses to all the pristine beaches in Antigua. Ruth demonstrated her exceptional skills as a host after sorting the details for our boat ride to Barbuda and reaching out to her friend to give us a tour. She also arranged to drop us off at the airport for our return flight. Staying at Ruth's apartments provided us with the opportunity to truly get a taste of Antigua's rich local culture as opposed to restricting my experience to a resort. The apartments are slightly rough around the edges, but Ruth's hospitality more than makes up for it! I had a lovely time in Antigua!

Ruth was very kind helping us arrive and checkout. She even found our lost car keys! The apartment could be updated for the price and the location wasn't accurate and farther from the airport than we expected.

I am sorry that the GPS information on airbnb is not accurate as I am 5 minutes drive from the airport.

Ruth unfortunately wasn't there, but her daughter was there to help get me situated. They picked me up from the airport for a super reasonable price and gave me some great advice for places to go and beaches to visit, etc. They also helped me get into town to pick up some groceries. The apartment I stayed in was a bit rough around the edges, and a little dirty but it had a great view and was very easy walking distance to the ocean. If you're looking for 5 star accommodations probably not the right spot for you, but if you're looking for somewhere reasonably priced that's in a great location and peaceful then this a good spot.

Thanks for letting me know. I cleaned it, a week before and made the beds I left but asked Rosa to brush it up before you came. I am very sorry for this. I will make up the next time you come

Ruth's hospitality was AMAZING! It was truly like staying with a dear friend. I had a fantastic trip to Antigua, mostly because of Ruth and how she showed me the island....and made everything comfortable and accessible for us. The people of Antigua are truly special and I got to know what it is like to live on Antigua thanks to Ruth and her wonderful hospitality.

Ruth is wonderful! She made us amazing food and was a fantastic host. Thank you Ruth!!!

Our stay with Ruth S. was filled with hospitality and care. She is a beautiful and gracious host, providing clean and secure living on the island of Antiqua. The room we had was modest and well kept. The view and closeness to the beach at Hobson harbor was great, just 4 minutes’ walk away from the rooms. The people were welcoming and friendly. My wife and I were on guard at the airport, but soon those fears were banished, as we were greeted by Ruth at the airport to pick us up to go to her place at Hobson Harbor. On the way we toured the island and saw some of the sights. I would stay gladly again with Ruth S. and truly recommend this if you are looking for the culturally enhanced version of a visit to Antiqua with no resort blinders. The restaurant’s and vendors we met all knew our host and we were accepted as grand visitors as and good friends. We gained a great love and appreciation for the culture and people of Antiqua. We are planning our next visit for next year. For the comfort and value we strongly recommend a stay with Ruth S. Signed James and Mickelle Buie

I am a Development Economist by training and very passionate about the things I engage in . Ruth's Place is affordable but provides value for money. My motto is "do onto others as you would have them do unto you-I pride myself in giving service and value and I want everyone visiting to have a memorable experience. Whether it be through dining, driving around the country, a trip to the beach or just a casual conversation, it should add value to the experience.. I am involved in many local groups-PTA's, AUA Medical School Research Council, The Global Environmental Facility-Small Grants Program, yet i find quality time to spend with my guests and students. People matter to me and I strive to use every moment to bring out the best in people and to share experiences that build up and support relationships.
