The Birchwood Hideout is a tent cabin hybrid made for adventurous individuals or couples ready to recharge & relax. Located in semi-rural New Hampshire, but only a 20 to 30 minute drive to "civilization". Relax by the campfire with our provided firewood and s'more supplies, take a quick drive to our nearby swimming hole on the Blackwater river, or just cozy up in bead and enjoy the wooded views.

The space
This listing is open seasonally from May to mid-October, depending on the weather.

If you send a request to book - you're NOT booked until you respond to a message we send including details about the stay. Only afterward we will approve the booking. If you don't respond, we will DECLINE your booking. Please understand that this is not an "instant book" listing. Thanks!

This is a NON-SMOKING property. You must be a NON-SMOKER to book.

Regarding kids: if you want to bring your kids and are willing to pitch an extra tent / bring a cot or camping pad for them, we are fine with you bringing them! However, please inquire before doing so! The site is best fit for 2 adults and possibly 2 to 3 children depending on how little they are. Please ask before before booking so we can figure out if we can accommodate you properly. Thanks!

Regarding dogs: 1 dog stays free, 2+ dogs = $15/dog per night. Please read further down for more details on our dog rules.

FYI- this location is VERY RURAL, NO service (with the possible exception for AT&T and US Celluar users) , no running water, no electricity, there are bugs, and the potential for wildlife!

Update 9/15/2020 : Hey hey! We got an insta :) Follow @the_salisbury_hideouts for the latest and so we can be friends!
Also, use #birchwoodhideout to tag your lovely photos so we can see!

Our Birchwood Hideout is a one-bedroom safari-style TENT* located in the rural woods of Salisbury, 30 minutes outside of Concord, NH.

By TENT we mean no running water, electricity, or cell service (with the possible exception for AT&T and US Celluar users) We do provide drinking water and water for dousing the campfire. Also, the canvas walls allow the sounds of nature to be heard and create a beautiful space!

However, BUGS will likely be a part of your stay too. We did our best to seal the tent all around, we provide a fly swatter, and we fog the area. To be safe, consider bringing some bug spray just in case!

There is also the potential for wild animals to pay you a visit- be careful about leaving food out!

Newly hand-built in the woods of our home, a mile off-road and not found by GPS! 120 square feet, built with rustic birchwood & canvas on a sturdy platform, and including a small deck. Escape and enjoy a chance to unwind in this secluded forest. There is one bedroom, an outhouse (about 15 yards outside the tent), a fire pit, and a picnic table entirely welcome to you. We also will provide firewood, so no need to bring your own!

Inside the tent, there is one queen bed, for which we will provide clean bedding and a goose-down comforter for chilly nights. There will be s'more supplies, eating utensils, dinnerware, a butane mini stove, a mini BBQ grill (we do NOT provide charcoal), and basic cooking utensils. There is NO fridge or cooler so plan accordingly. (The Crossroads gas station in Salisbury sells ice if you bring your own cooler). Please note it is unlikely you will have cell service, or power to charge devices. Think of it as an unplugged experience! :) small flashlights, drinking water, and water for dishwashing are provided.

Also, dogs are welcome! There is lots of room where they can run around. Just make sure to clean up after your pet and we also ask that you bring your own dog bed. Please don't allow your dogs up on the queen bed.

Let us know if you are bringing a dog- We do have our german shepherd Ellie, who will mainly reside at our house. She might get excited by the visitors and we would need to make sure they stay inside if you are bringing your pet. We also have neighbors who have dogs, goats, and sheep. Please try to walk away from their direction if your dog could cause trouble.

We have another listing, The Hemlock Hideout, that is a treehouse. The site is about 100 yards down the driveway from the Birchwood. Please be mindful of their privacy and if you are playing any music to not disturb them.

Photoshoots are NOT allowed unless you reach out to us and discuss the details of how many total people will be coming, and if you are willing to rent the space outside of Airbnb. This listing is best fit for 2 adults and there will be fines for unauthorized photographers or extra people. DM us on Insta.gram @the_salisbury_hideouts if you'd like to discuss renting both our listings for a content day event or other photoshoot purposes. We do ask for proof of insurance from you and prices will reflect renting both sites, extra cleaning, the extra people, and the presence of location managers.

Where you’ll be

Salisbury, New Hampshire, United States

We live in a VERY RURAL area - plan on bringing food as we are not in walking distance to grocery stores or restaurants. Our guestbook on-site can help guide you to some 15min drives to our local places to get food or eat.

Some fun activities in the area can include paddling, fishing, and swimming in the Blackwater River (located about a mile from the site). You can also bring bikes to go for a spin in the neighborhood or The Northern Rail Trail, a nice bike trail near us. We are also on the side of Mt. Kearsarge and can direct you to two state parks that you can hike trails up that.

Some nearby food spots:

The Kitchen in Andover serves amazing breakfast and lunch foods, and some dinner servings. It is located about 5 miles north. The Refinery is fairly new, we haven't tried it but hear great things about it. It's about 8 miles north of the site. ***** Due to covid restrictions, all local eateries are doing take out, or a few outdoor tables. *****

The Barnstore, 7 miles south of us, has great food but is not open on a regular basis. Call ahead to see. They serve locally grown meats. Try the pork chop breakfast!!

Another great place for breakfast and lunch is Tuckers, located 15 miles east in New London. Well worth the trip for good food!

For a good pizza at a good price, try the CrossRoads Country Store, about 6 miles south. Gas, basic necessities, and homemade cookies are their specialties.
