Cozy and colorful, this two bedroom guesthouse is tucked behind a historic home in the epicenter of downtown Hillsborough, only one block from the shops and restuaruants in business district on Churton Street and two blocks from an organic grocery, public parks, and walking trails.

From our guesthouse you can explore historic Hillsborough on foot, or make the short drive to Durham / Duke and Chapel Hill / UNC university and hospitals, with easy access to the rest of the Triangle.

The space
Part of Hillsborough's character comes from the eclectic mix of homes built up like a patchwork quilt in the central downtown area over the last 250 years. Neighboring properties range from more than 200 years old to less than 15 years old. The Wake St. Guesthouse is a 2-bedroom brick house constructed in 1970 in the "backyard" of our 120-year-old home. The house packs a lot inside 1000 square feet, from quiet work spaces that will appeal to writers and business travelers, to a fully stocked kitchen and flexible sleeping arrangements that will appeal to long-term renters and families with kids.

Looking for specialty items in the kitchen, like an Instapot or sous vide? Need to borrow a cooler for a picnic or an extra car seat? Just ask, your hosts are right next door and happy to share.

Guest access
Guests will have exclusive access to the guesthouse and its backyard during their stay. Guests will share a driveway with the host family living in the main house on the property.

Other things to note
As a family with three young children (5 and under), we are happy to support families traveling with young kids by sharing gear, toys, and play space. Please message in advance to make arrangements.

The main house on the property offers an EV charger (adapter may be required). Please message in advance to arrange for charging access.

We only open the calendar 2-3 months in advance. Please message for future availability and long-term stays.

Your hosts are born and bred into the traditions of Southern Hospitality. If we can do anything to make your stay more comfortable, please ask!

During your stay
Your accommodations will be in close proximity to our home. We value privacy and are often busy with work and family, but also enjoy building connections with guests from all parts of the world. If you are out and about, the littlest "hosts" in our family (including a friendly basset-terrier) may occasionally have "boundary issues" and are likely to be curious and excited to meet you. For guests who are interested, we are happy to point you to the best of Hillsborough and the Triangle area.
