We had a fabulous visit to Chicago, due in large part to having such a convenient and charming "home base" for our 5-day active family vacation. We loved the look and feel of the industrial history of Cobbler's Square, the hospitality of Joanne as well as the doormen, and the location. Proximity to the subway and bus lines was so convenient, but what we really loved was the Divvy (bike share) station literally steps from our front door - we became Divvy- addicted, hopping on the bikes to go pretty much anywhere! In addition to hitting the big attractions around the city, we also enjoyed the Old Town area and did some basic grocery shopping (great to be able to cook some meals at the loft) as well as took in a show at The Second City.
As far as the accommodations, we had everything we needed for our family of four - which includes boys ages 17 and 19. Our 19 year old especially enjoyed having his "private room" with the double bed in the walk-in closet (great idea). I personally loved the very well equipped fitness room and had it completely to myself for all 3 of my workouts. I also felt very safe running in the neighborhood including an easy walk or run to the zoo and/or Lake Shore. We didn't take advantage of the sundeck/hot tub/grills, but only because we were so busy - if we had a bit more time I think we might have grilled and invited some local friends over. Oh and all the guys loved the funky and fun lobby-level "living room" type area - having a multi-game arcade station was a huge hit and now they are lobbying me to buy one for our home - lol. We played pool and shuffleboard as well - managing to keep them off their devices for a good chunk of old-fashioned family time - that is a victory!
Chicago tip - if you are planning to hit all the tourist attractions, we recommend buying a City Pass in advance - great discount if you do at least 4 of the 5 activities and it works like a fast pass to skip past the long cashier lines at each venue.
Thanks Joanne - we will recommend your properties to friends and will no doubt be back!
Super prompt response and trouble-free booking. FABULOUS location in a really cool modern industrial building...just feet away from restaurants and shops in Old Town. The unit itself was clean, comfortable, and adequately equipped. Perfect for those wanting to try out loft-style living. Wish I had more time to stay and better weather when I was here...hot tub and rooftop deck will be on my to-do list for next time!
The space was beautiful and we loved the location. However, the WiFi and cable didn't work which was pretty inconvenient.
Had a great time in Chicago. The apartment was very nice as described. There are plenty of great shops and restaurants all walking distance. Very comfortable. Only negative would be the noisy fan/air conditioning unit that switches itself on during the night (noisy). Other than that had a wonderful stay
Beautiful loft and very comfortable beds. Using the sunroof accessible on the same floor was a real joy. The host provided great and speedy communication, would definitely stay again.
Nice space, great location, clean.
I was very happy and would definitely stay there again.
Joanne was very sweet. Everything I needed was there and I had a great stay!
