Fabulous breakfast, view for 60 mile, and 10 min. from downtown Amherst. If you're coming to the Amherst area to visit the colleges or for business, come stay with us in our sunny home on the hill—and just minutes away from Hampshire College, University of Massachusetts, and Amherst College.
Your bedroom has lots of windows, shades, both a queen-size bed and a single, each with an excellent mattress. The full bath is right next to the bedroom. Outdoor shower in the summer. (If you need an additional room, there is a separate airbnb listing for a 2nd and 3rd room.)
Wake up and take a quiet country walk before breakfast.
A typical gourmet breakfast buffet might include homemade baked good, fresh bread, homemade jams & jellies, fresh-ground coffee/tea, smoked fish, eggs from the chickens next door, homemade granola & muesli, yogurts & fresh fruits.
We're located 1000 feet above the Connecticut Valley with views for 60 miles (we can see Hartford, Ct. on the horizon), lots of light, alpacas & donkeys, wild turkeys, stone walls, fields and forest. If you have the time, enjoy hiking trails, country walks, biking and jogging right outside the door. Down the hill in Amherst and Northampton, there are lots of restaurants, boutiques, and the 5 colleges. The 4 seasons are all beautiful up here and we can see both the sunrise and the sunset
(If you come into Amherst by train or bus, expect to spend approximately $15-$20 each way for taxi service.)

Josette and Joan were very warm and attentive during our stay. As hosts, they were communicative, flexible, and friendly. Josette is also a wonderful cook, and served us lovely hot breakfasts on both mornings. We very much enjoyed staying in their lovely home.
Josette and Joan are wonderful. We had a lovely stay. Their home is beautiful. Breakfast was AMAZING.
We could not have had a more welcome or welcoming experience. We arrived late -- later than planned -- to a quiet, warm, gentle home. Josette was kind and settled us in smoothly. The house is so beautiful and peaceful, with sky and fields on view in the morning light. The guest room was perfect for us, and everything we needed was right at hand. In the morning Josette gave us a lovely and multi-faceted breakfast, and we relaxed and got to know each other. New friends. We will return!
From the moment we drove down the driveway, we felt as if we were at home.
The hosts were gracious and welcoming, and the room was great with a wonderful view of the trees changing color. We were made to feel right at home, enjoying a cup of tea in the evening and a delicious breakfast in the morning. The hosts asked in advance what we liked to eat, and were provided for with excellent service.
Our stay at the Big Sky Hilltop was a real pleasure. Josette was very helpful with phone instructions from before our arrival to the delicious and abundant breakfast. She and Joan practically planned our next day through the Berkshires with great success. The place is located on a hill with the most beautiful view. The house is very nice and we made good use of the sitting area in the living room. We are looking forward to a return visit.
We spent two fantastic nights at Big Sky Hilltop and could have stayed for weeks! We couldn't find fault in a single thing! The location has fantastic views, the accommodation is spotlessly clean and comfortable, Josette and Joan are welcoming, interesting, helpful and hilariously funny, we cried with laughter at times! They have a twinkle of mischief in their eyes, We are sure they could do a stand up comedy act and bring the house down! Big Sky is remote enough to be tranquil and relaxing yet close enough to Amherst for dining out or anything else you might need! Breakfast was delicious, and as Josette promised we didn't leave her breakfast table hungry. We cannot speak highly enough of this fantastic little B&B! Our stay was just too short!
Beautiful home. Amazing views and delicious breakfast. Great music and company.

Joan and I are both semi-retired professionals-- Joan is a psycho-therapist and I am an ESL and English teacher. We are avid vegetable and flower gardeners and this little 4-acre "homestead" gets sun all day (in fact, the passive solar heat keeps the house warm in winter without much help from the oil furnace), so it's a great place to garden. Our hill top has lots of walking and hiking trails, and although it's too hilly for us to bike, "real" bikers like the elevation. we feed the birds in all 4 seasons, so our feeders on the deck are always busy. We do a lot of cooking, and we often have guests for dinner. I also preserve foodstuffs every summer: sweet and sour pickles, hot pickled peppers, tomatoes and tomato soup, jams and jellies, and we try to fill the freezer with fresh produce and a small quantity of grass-fed meat. We have 3 sons and one daughter-in-law (so far) between us and 2 young grandsons--they live in other places, but they love to visit. We resolved to share the beauty of our location and our home when we moved here, so having guests helps to fulfill that pledge.
