This was my first airbnb experience and could not say nicer things about staying with Josette and Joan! My friend and I met Josette outside the house and she welcomed us into her home and made us feel instantly comfortable. She and Joan gave us great suggestions for local places to try and it honestly felt like we were staying with family. The house is also located in a beautiful area! Thanks Joan and Josette!
The Big Sky Hilltop is a wonderful place to stay. Joan and Josie are gracious hosts. Josie's breakfasts are delicious and hardy and she makes a great cup of coffee.
My son and I were visiting the Amherst/N Hampton area to check out Umass and the other colleges. Josie was very helpful in recommended restaurants and gave us a great local perspective of the whole area.
Our room was large, clean and the beds are very comfortable. The private bathroom is also roomy and clean with lots of towels. Their home sits on beautiful land with views of the surrounding woods and Alpacas and donkeys. The b & b is only a 10 drive from Amherst center. I highly recommend Big Sky Hilltop for your visit to the Amherst area.
My daughter and I started our week long college tour with a 2 night stay at Big Sky. What a launch! When we arrived we felt welcomed like old friends. Josette and Joan offer legendary hospitality. The bedroom we shared was lovely: delightful art, fresh flowers, comfortable beds, fresh drinking water, good lighting, both from windows on two sides and multiple bedside lamps. It was large enough for us to spend time in there together without getting in each other's way. The common room, the kitchen, the deck and yard are just gorgeous. It's not just a beautiful house -- they've got style, Josette and Joan! And the breakfasts were delicious, even for my vegan daughter. Josette loves to cook food her guests love to eat!
As other reviews indicate, they gave us plenty of tips for sightseeing and dining, though given the bountiful breakfasts, great conversation and unbelievable scenery (alpacas and donkeys, birds of brilliant plumage, and a sweeping hilltop view) we felt tempted to linger over coffee.
Past good reviews accurate. Nice house and friendly, solicitous hosts. Great peaceful woodland views from my bedroom.
Josette and Joan are wonderful. We had a lovely stay. Their home is beautiful. Breakfast was AMAZING.
We could not have had a more welcome or welcoming experience. We arrived late -- later than planned -- to a quiet, warm, gentle home. Josette was kind and settled us in smoothly. The house is so beautiful and peaceful, with sky and fields on view in the morning light. The guest room was perfect for us, and everything we needed was right at hand. In the morning Josette gave us a lovely and multi-faceted breakfast, and we relaxed and got to know each other. New friends. We will return!

About the Host, Josette And Joan
Joan and I are both semi-retired professionals-- Joan is a psycho-therapist and I am an ESL and English teacher. We are avid vegetable and flower gardeners and this little 4-acre "homestead" gets sun all day (in fact, the passive solar heat keeps the house warm in winter without much help from the oil furnace), so it's a great place to garden. Our hill top has lots of walking and hiking trails, and although it's too hilly for us to bike, "real" bikers like the elevation. we feed the birds in all 4 seasons, so our feeders on the deck are always busy. We do a lot of cooking, and we often have guests for dinner. I also preserve foodstuffs every summer: sweet and sour pickles, hot pickled peppers, tomatoes and tomato soup, jams and jellies, and we try to fill the freezer with fresh produce and a small quantity of grass-fed meat. We have 3 sons and one daughter-in-law (so far) between us and 2 young grandsons--they live in other places, but they love to visit. We resolved to share the beauty of our location and our home when we moved here, so having guests helps to fulfill that pledge.
