This is the third time I and my family have booked here. The first time in New York I couldn't have asked for a better location. I got the feel of the locals and just a train away from the city. Her place was clean, and was very accommodating. I will continue booking in the future
My wife and I got what we were promised, and what we wanted. A clean, quiet and affordable apartment in an interesting, lively neighborhood with really affordable homestyle food establishments, and establishments for pretty much all you need. The place and the location has a lot to offer those hungry for an NYC off the beaten and tired path of the typical touristy stuff everybody goes to. However, it's also very, very close to the Subway, so when you WANT to get quickly, cheaply and conveniently to that stuff, you can. Jose, Smaria's nephew, was very attentive and flexible regarding our check in time. Thanks, Jose.
This was the second time I stayed at Smaria's apartment. Just as nice as the first time. See my prior review.
A friend and I stayed here for about 4 nights, and we found the place to be comfortable, quiet, and clean, with a good location near the 1 line. The neighborhood is lively and welcoming. Communication with everyone taking care of the apartment was easy and speedy.
I stayed at Smaria's apartment for three nights in September 2013 and everything went well. Jose welcomed me at the apartment with the keys and all the information I needed. While there I took the 1 train to Times Square which was very convenient. The apartment was a good size, with two flat screen TV's, comfortable bed and clean; however, the bathroom could use a little tile work. I found a restaurant around corner on St. Nicholas called Grito Mexican Grill that is worth a visit. I would return to Smaria's apartment.
I enjoyed staying in the apartment.
The area is very interesting and safe. The Latin community in this area are very happy people and the streets around are alive with everything needed, supermarket, restaurants, laundry, subway etc'.
The no #1 subway have a great route stops in all of NY points of interest and it is very close to the apartment. It takes up to 30 min to get to times square.
The apartment itself is in a nice building , very quiet and feels like home and gives the experience of real life in NY. Has TV's and free Wi Fi.
I really enjoyed my time and the vacation and also my sister.
Shlomy and Moran.
I needed to stay in Washington Heights close to Yeshiva University and this was my best option. I have no idea how the nightly rate compares with other options in the area or in Manhattan in general. This is a clean, quiet apartment. There is no elevator in the building but the apartment is on the second floor so there was only one flight of stairs to climb. Smaria has recently added an enormous new flat screen TV in the good-sized living room. Everything works, i.e., two TVs, wifi internet, two window air conditioners, shower, stove, refrigerator etc. The bed, which I believe is queen size, is quite comfortable. Smaria's nephew Jose was in the apartment finishing the cleaning at exactly the time I said I would be arriving from the airport. I really appreciated that I didn't have to wait for him after a long flight. He gave me the keys and explained where to put trash and how to use the wifi and I had no further need for his assistance during my week-long stay. Smaria obviously takes her responsibilities to her guests seriously. The neighborhood is safe but not fancy and the building likewise is safe but not fancy. I frequently went into Mid-town Manhattan for restaurants, museums, etc. and that was no problem at all because the subway stop is a short walk from the apartment. In short if you are looking for something safe, quiet and comfortable but don't need fancy, you should be very satisfied.
Smaria made us a very easy staying in NYC. Last day, she even let us stay until 7pm at the apartment not to carry the luggages around the city. Thanks!
Smaria and Jose were great hosts! They were super helpful, and they both really worked with us given my family's complicated situation (various people arriving at various times). They made everything super easy and comfortable. Really, our lives were made simple because of the effort and kindness that they showed us.
The apartment itself was nice...exactly what we were hoping for. It's very comfortable for 4 people, and the neighborhood is charming. We loved all of the life, especially at night when the entire community seems to come out to enjoy each other's company.
The next time that we're in NYC, we'll definitely be staying with Smaria!
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
