This unique apartment is ideal for a very comfortable stay in the centre of Rome, being situated in the district of Prati, 300 meters from the Vatican Museums and only 150 meters from the Metro station Ottaviano Line A. The Basilique of Saint Peter as shown from the terrace of the building is situated at a 5 minutes walking distance from the apartment.
At the 4th floor with the elevator it can easily host 6 persons and it is composed of 2 large bedrooms with 1 double bed and single bed each, a fully equipped kitchen/lounge-room with a double sofa 2 bathrooms with shower and hot tub and one more kitchen with dinner table.
The apartment is endowed with air conditioning, central heating,Internet Wi-Fi in all rooms, TV LCD touch screen, washing machine, towels, kitchen facilities and a mobile phone at disposal of our guests.
The area is full of restaurants, gelaterias, pubs, pharmacies, touristic attractions and public transports. A traditional market with fresh food and flowers is 200mt far from the flat.
The host was incredibly helpful and welcoming which added so much to our experience in Rome. The space was amazing and the location was perfect!
Clean Comfort & Central - what more could we expect? Well, we got all of that, plus a good Cost and what money can’t buy - smiles and plenty of them.
While this is officially Jelena's hosting, her partner, Roberto, was very involved.... they arranged for a taxi (at competitive price) to fetch (and later return) us from the airport.
On our arrival, our party of 6 - two couples and two children was welcomed by our hosts in their beautiful (just as described on airbnb) apartment.
Within moments, our 3 year old granddaughter named Jelena "my new friend" and our half year old grandson changed cries into giggles when Roberto giggled with him.
The grandkids were given beds exactly suiting their needs and slept with their parents in a large room.... overall, the apartment is full of light and air, with high ceilings only found in first class classic buildings.
Our hosts explained the running of things, were very generous with all kinds of add-ons, from washing liquids both for the kitchen sinks (we used combined apartments) and the washing machine, to those 'small' but important things which become a hassle to drag along or buy. Olive oil, spices, even sugar and jam.
Maps and explanations came next- the area, while dominated by the Vatican is a buzzing place of interest in its own right.
A tip- Wednesday mornings, the Pope has an audience- if you do not attend, that's the ideal time to visit the Vatican Museum- the crowds start only after the meeting.
There is a covered market on via Del Gracchi (we found it expensive) and a couple of super markets (including one in the basement of an apartment store) a bit further away on the same street. In general, shops calling themselves "express" charge more. Very close to the market is a bakery, as is one in the basement supermarket - try them both.
There are a number of eating places on Gracchi and each street radiating from via Catone (home) has even more. Quite far down Gracchi is an ice-cream parlour which 'must be' good, as the locals take numbers to be served. On via Cola di Rienzo, vertically opposite the basement supermarket is another type of ice-cream shop- to see the difference, go deep inside- handmade wafers and lollies.
While public transport is easily available to the 'attractions' of Rome, we tended to stroll the avenues to the Tiber, according to our objective in Rome that day... use the map available as a guide.
From time to time we used the 'emergency' phone which Jelena supplied, to get very useful support, including translation and restaurant booking.
Even if we escaped from the normal limits expected of guests, we always felt that Jelena and Roberto were happy to give us their support.
Rome (like our Jerusalem) has so much to offer and this is the perfect base.
Given the opportunity- YES we would return
It really is a Fantastic Flat Rome City Center.
We had such a great time in Rome. Jelena and Roberto were away for the weekend but they ensured we were well taken care of. we arrived much earlier than expected and they made arrangements for us despite the short notice. Valeria was fabulous, providing suggestions, making us feel welcome and providing us with all that we needed to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Jelena and Roberto were extremely helpful in answering questions before and during our trip and they helped arrange transportation to the airport and even reserving tours for us. The place is huge, something we did not expect. I am a first time AIRBNB user and it based on this experience I would use this service again. Thank you so much for your hospitality Roberto, Jelena and Valeria.
Wonderful, spacious, clean apartment and so close to the Vatican. The apartment is warm and comfortable- it is even nicer than the photos indicate. To the left of the entrance is a nice master bedroom with a kitchen, a separate sitting room and bathroom. To the right, there is a large bedroom with a dining area, a kitchen and a bathroom. It was a luxury to have so much space.
The kitchens have all the basics, and the beds are comfortable. The location is excellent, and we walked everywhere.
Jelena was a superb communicator and once we arrived, Jelena and Roberto went out of their way to make our stay over Christmas extra special. They left us presents under a Christmas tree, Spumante, Panettone and made us a reservation at an excellent restaurant for Christmas lunch.
It was a perfect visit and can not wait to return!
