About this listing
For travelers who are passing through town short-term and like a rustic cabin vibe in a great city location. Features: Futon pull out double bed, twin single loft bed, toliet & kitchette, but note: No bathing facilities available on site. Welcome!
This space has a lot of funky charm and is in a great part of the city. The room is cozy and a bit quirky with a rustic/self built vibe as we inherited the space (for example, the walls are simple paneling) but if you like its charm like we do, you will always have clean sheets, fresh duvets and coffee. You can have your coffee on the roof to see the tips of the skyscrapers while listening to the collection of birds that seem to like our yard!
We hope you will love this place so please do not book just because it "will do for the price." Not everyone likes ladders, futons, old wood wall paneling or lack of a shower, but some people love cozy and fun and will truly resonate with our offering as they travel like we do! We love people to be happy and feel safe.
There is a toliet is in the room with a curtain and half wall dividing it from the rest of the space, but no solid door.
There is a single foam bed in the loft for those that are comfortable on a loft ladder. The futon in the main space is a pull out that could fit two people and is comfy. I set it up with clean sheets and bedding always. It will take up most of the room, so if you are staying more then a night, you may want to push it back to have a sitting space as there is a small table and two seats for eating space and a kitchenette, but no drawers for clothes..though we have lots of hooks and a shelf- if you have large wheel suitcases it will be possibly too tight...I offer all this to be upfront so you will enjoy your stay if you select the Zen Loft :)
The wifi password for the zen loft is hulahoop :)
The Zen Loft is located behind our house which is off of 16th Ave Ne and NE 70th street in the highly walkable area of Ravenna with loads of restaurants, Greenlake, books stores and coffee shops within minutes walk.
The house is on 70th between 16th and 17th Ave NE. We are one house in from the corner. If passing 17th, we are the second house on the left with a big maple blocking much of our beige house with purple door.
On the right, you will see a clear large gravel drive way taking you to a gate on the right of our house and you will see the Zen Loft by the lit up tree and path in the way back. Please just open the right door of the loft, the other is locked as has a small crack from being pulled too hard. Youu will just wander from the backyard to the loft in your own private little corner of our yard :)
The kitchenette is stocked with basic essentials such as a mini fridge, sink, two hot plates, microwave, coffee pot, toaster and utensils.
The heater are two green ceramic plates against the walls with on/off switches on them. One will warm up the room very well, two is just if you need a burst or it is below freezing.
Wifi is ZEN LOFT Password is hulahoop. When leave please leave key on the table and wash any dishes. Thank you.
Interaction with guests
I often leave the key for guests to check in when they are able. I like to greet my guests as we live on the property when possible and be helpful with information they may need. I am a busy mom of 4 so my husband and I are often all about town, but we are accessible on phone and email easily most of the time. Sometimes we do rent when we are not home and are up front with our guests if they would be booking to stay without personal host experience and it is up to them!
Ravenna is a wonderful neighborhood with an extemely good walking score. You are only a few blocks from so much! Less than 10 minutes walk and you are walking around Greenlake, or at Ravenna Alehouse, Zeeks Pizza, Ravenna Park, Third Place books, you name it! There is so much in our area to enjoy! For drivers, you are just 10 blocks from 1-5 and 5 minutes drive to the University District and 10 minutes to areas like Phinney, Fremont and the Woodland Park Zoo. In the city, but without the traffic, noise or high rises.
There are buses that leave from close to our house. Just (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) "Seattle Metro Journey Planner" and you can see if you put in our address all the places you can go!
Other things to note
Though we think our place has character and charm galore, it is not for the traveler that needs lots of space or needs to stay a long time (unless they have shower options at a gym or friends, etc). It is perfect if you want to explore short-term and want to save money by cooking in the loft reading a book, getting away from the hustle and bustle while still being in the city.
If using the loft, the laddar can be easily pulled away from the wall to sit on the wooden support, but since it is not nailed down please be (URL HIDDEN) drinking and climbing :)
Please be respectful as if you were guests of our home and we hope to treat you the same. Please strip the bed when finished. We try not to charge too much for cleaning, so please leave the kitchen as much as you can as you found it. Nothing but toliet paper in the toliet please. No smoking on the grounds, no pets generally, but you are welcome to ask. Feel free to say hi, chat or keep to yourself- it is up to you!
As a world traveler and Airbnb user myself, we built a space to host (Zen Den) but when we moved I was so sad to lose the space. So we bought a house with a tiny cabin on it already inally which we can extend to other travelers! Both my husband and I have lived in other countries and love meeting people and sharing our city with them. We have 4 children in our home which is on the same property.
My husband and I love to dance, go to festivals, cook and be with our kids and friends. My husband works in technology and I am a kids music and yoga teacher.
We have traveled to Thailand multiple times and often visit Europe.
We are fairly relaxed people, but always like clean linens, good communication and other relaxed people as this studio space is simple without a shower or bedroom, but has character and beats a old motel in our humble opinion!
We hope you have fun visiting Seattle!
