The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, microware, oven, table with 4 chairs, coffee maker, etc., which will allow you to take advantage of self-catering. The modern bathroom is equipped with shower, washbasin, toilet and hairdryer. This apartment in Barcelona is situated in the Raval area just near the famous Ramblas, the Contemporary Art Museum (MACBA), the Boqueria Mercat, the Mercat of Sant Antoni, theatres, restaurants, etc.
Most of the turistic attractions are at a walking distance, such as the Liceu Opera, the Colom Monument, La Rambla, Plaza Catalunya, etc.
The nearest metro station is Sant Antoni (L2) which is just 5 minutes by walk.
The short summary is: 1) The apartment itself has issues but is overall fine, and 2) the noise level of the neighborhood makes it unlivable.
The major attraction of this apartment is its proximity to awesome stuff. Living here you are within easy walking/subway distance to all the best things in Barcelona. There are plenty of stores and laundry and food options nearby, so it is very convenient. The apartment is spacious and mostly well furnished. If you are just staying a few nights and plan to party every night anyway, then this place may fit your needs.
However, if you stay here, don't expect to EVER sleep. Right on the same little street of the apartment, a street so small and narrow that the (website hidden) street view car didn't bother to go down it, are a couple of bars, stores, and a bunch of dumpsters for the neighborhood. There are people outside those bars yelling, screaming, singing, and smoking until 3-4 am EVERY DAY (even in winter) and you are close enough that even with the windows closed you can smell the cigarette smoke. There are garbage trucks and street cleaning machines going down this alley several times a day, starting at 8 am, and you are close enough to pavement scraping and water dispensing machines that the smell of diesel exhaust can wake you up even if the noise didn't. And because there are stores, there are supply trucks, and the street is so narrow that nobody can go around them...so you have HONKING starting at 8am and lasting until 4am.
But that's not all, there is a guy carrying gas canisters all day every day that bangs on them with a wrench to see if anybody needs gas. And because the bed is about 3 meters from the street, it's louder and closer than if somebody were banging on pots with a hammer in the kitchen of the apartment. Or the person who parks a motorcycle directly under your balcony -- motorcycles are not quiet. And that's just a small sample of the noise coming from outside the apartment. I found that by BLASTING white noise and ocean sounds from my laptop next to the bed I could sleep 4-6 hours per night, though it wasn't pleasant.
Of course, there is nothing that the host can do about this noise (except replace the window/doors with more soundproof and exhaustproof ones). There was also a major problem with the stove/oven making a beeping noise all the time, which acted like an alarm and woke me up regularly, sometimes 3 times a night, through the first few week. Probably they will eventually manage to fix that problem, but after several tries they could not stop it without just keeping the stove unplugged.
So, even though there were many things I liked about this apartment and its location, I would NEVER consider staying here (anywhere in this immediate neighborhood) again because of the constant noise.
