The Space

Welcome to Makawao...
A bustling Upcountry town rich in history dating back to Maui's first paniolos (or cowboys).

These days Makawao is the perfect place to find a unique blend of upscale boutiques, mom and pop restaurants and back to the earth natural stores, with an eclectic blend of local folk to match.

Surrounded by rolling pastureland, towering eucalyptus trees and breathtaking bicoastal views, Makawao is the perfect central location to explore both the North Shore beaches, the densely populated South Shore tourist areas or to simply take a day trip to Hana or enjoy the sunrise up Mount Haleakala.

Just minutes outside of Makawao town is where you will find our accommodations featuring:

-Unobstructed panoramic ocean and north shore views across rolling pastureland!

-Hawaiian themed four poster bed
-Full kitchen with stainless steel fridge/freezer and ice maker.
-Coffee maker with complimentary coffee/tea and snacks.
-Flat screen wall mounted television with huge array of music and satellite television channels.
-Brand new Weber barbeque for a lazy evening under the stars.
-Ocean view picnic/seating area.
-Beach towels, cooler and beach chairs for a busy day of exploring.
-Chaise lounge chairs for some afternoon sunbathing or reading.
-iPod docking station
-Free Wifi included.

-Welcome basket featuring chocolates and local snacks upon check in.

With Axis deer commonly seen on our driveway and native endangered Hawaiian bats seen hunting among the eucalyptus trees at dusk, our accommodations are the perfect country getaway for the bird watcher or nature lover.

Convenient to town but quiet and private for those that enjoy their own space. Located on several acres of land.

  • I found this great place for my graduation present to myself. Wow is all I can say. This is not your typical place, very special. Off the beaten path! I highly recommend this cottage as I call it.

Great location, the town of Makawao is awesome, hung out with the locals at the restaurants.

  • We had a very relaxing time in our cozy studio with a huge deck. Very close to great food and Upcountry activities as well as Paia and the road to Hana. Mahalo Nui Loa

  • We had a great stay at Sharon's cottage. We stayed in the upper unit - it was clean, comfortable, and exactly as the photos depict. We loved upcountry Maui. Very gorgeous and rural feeling, yet close to many amenities. Thank you for the wonderful time!

  • We just stayed here this past week and the accommodations was exactly as described right down to the resident cat Nana. It was a quiet area away from the tourist traps which is what we were looking for. The location was convenient for our travel on this side of the island. The welcome snacks were truly a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again. Sharon responded very promptly to our questions which was appreciated .

  • We spent three nights at the top unit of the Bamboo Cottage. We had already spent three nights at a resort and wanted a more secluded place to stay. The views are wonderful and it's actually quite nice to hear the roosters clucking in the morning. The top unit is very cozy and very cute. Basic necessities such as soap, shampoo, dish soap, pans/pots/plates/utensils were provided. Even a cooler, beach chairs, and beach towels! We used the grill and enjoyed being able to cook and eating dinner on the patio. The place is not very far from Haleakala which is bonus. I already miss it!

  • We had a great stay in the upstairs unit. The location in Makawao was great for visiting Halekala, the north shore and a day trip out to Hana. The unit was in great shape and the gift basket we received was a very nice touch. The views of the country with the ocean in the background were amazing and the cottage has a lot of privacy. We didn't have anyone staying in the unit below us, it was a nice and peaceful experience cooking on the BBQ and relaxing on the deck in the evenings.

  • We stayed in the downstairs unit of this lovely cottage for 9 nights. We didn't have any problems (noise or otherwise) with the upstairs tenants, but be aware that there may be somebody living above/below you. That said, the cottage is adorable and offers a great stay on Maui with everything you need to feel comfortable (kitchen, washer/dryer, big bed, sofa, tv...). Unfortunately we had really bad weather and therefore mostly spent our time in the (dryer) south of the island but if you have better luck there are nice chairs, a hammock, a grill and a table inviting you to spend some time outside. We were really disappointed that we couldn't make use of them! Oh and the view is gorgeous :)

  • We had a great relaxing time here. The views were great and the accommodations were wonderful. There was a nice new BBQ to use. We were originally going to use this a home base and travel to the lavender farm, Mt. Haleakala, etc, but we ended up just staying around looking at the views and exploring the close town of Makawao. We would definitely stay here again.
