On the highest point of a hill set among the mosaic of the vineyards, typical of the Chianti Classico area, in the heart of a medieval village, you'll find the Pieve Marsina.
The house, composed of 5 delightful apartments, has as it's main objective the idea of offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the calm, the beauty and all the pleasures our region has to offer.
For this reason our apartments have been renovated with respect for tradition: you'll find antique terracotta floor tiles, walls of warm colours, discovered during renovation work, large stone and brick fireplaces and magnificent porticos with a magical atmopshere.
Under one of these fully renovated porticos we have installed a relaxing Jacuzzi for 3-5 people. Essential oils for aromatic sensations, relaxing music, fragrances and flavours that liberate the mind. Three comfortable dechchairs for relaxing before and after bathing. Perfect on summer evenings and cold winter days.
La Pieve Marsina is a perfect base for visiting the enchanting Gothic grandeur of Siena, the historic rival, Florence, the romantic splendour of the ancient maritime republic of Pisa and a whole host of art cities. If you leave the main urban areas, you'll find another Tuscany, equally fascinating, with ancient villages set on the top of verdant hills and churches nestling in remote areas.
Our guests have the use of a 13x6m swimming pool equipped with sun loungers, beach umbrellas and a super gazebo with tables and chairs for outdoor lunches; a games area with table football and table tennis; opportunity to hire motorbikes, scooters and bicycles nearby, as well as the opportunity to participate in exclusive tours, at exceptional prices, to enjoy the pleasures only the Chianti has to offer (Brunello Grand Tour, Pienza and Montepulciano Grand Tour, Firenze and Uffizi Grand Tour, Chianti Grand Tour...).
Apartment of 90 meters squares for 4-6 people. Plan access earth on a characteristic loggia in stone equipped to eat and endowed with firewood original oven.
Great saloon with firewood fireplace and lunch table for 12 people.
2 rooms, 1 matrimonial and 1 double with separate beds queen size, possibility of additional beds.
Great kitchen with central table, 5 fires + oven, refrigerator and freezer.
I bathe with box shower. Autonomous heating.
The location of this appartment is beautifull: in the middle of the vineyards on top of a hill. Also very close to Sienna (half an hour) and close to famous wine castle in Brolio.
The house has a lot of space, and looks quite good but some things could have been better like the shower (hot water availability) and kitchen (some equipment missing and just 1 fire working).
We were there in April and the heating worked very well, which was nice for colder evenings.
The jacuzzi was very nice, in a cosy room with relaxing music :)
We had a great time at Argenina "chianti style" apartments! Really nice views! nice apartments, good heating, big and comfortable rooms! I recommend it 100%
The views from Gabriele's property of the surrounding countryside are breath taking. The vineyards come up to walls of the apartments and the hills roll away across the horizon. The only noise is the birds chirping and the crickets.
The rooms are cool thanks to their thick walls and the shade of trees, so no air con was needed even though the temperatures were in the 30+C.
The location is good for visiting Siena but a bit of pre-planning is needed to sort out a car park. Florence is also reachable, again check locations of car parks on the internet.
Gabriele's wi-fi zone by his office in a good place to meet other visitors and catch up on mail etc. make sure the batteries work on your lap-top as there isn't a power point.
The local shop in Monti is well stocked and the Coop in Gaiole has everything you need.
Local Restaurants are all good, the one in Lecchi particularly so. They all close on different days, so check.
Gabriele is very helpful, we watched Euro 2012 on his tv.
The Guardian article on Tuscany on a budget gives good advice, wine tasting in Panzano at the Accademia del Buon Gusto was an excellent experience with the very knowledgeable Stefano Salvadori and lunch above Dario Cecchini's Butcher shop well worth finding.
We had such a fantastic time in Gaiole in Chianti staying at Gabriele's place. It's run as a B&B and you can have Gabriele's sister make you breakfast for 5EUR pp if you like. We opted for this one day.
The location is great. You will need a rental car for sure to get there and around though. Everything is incredibly close - Sienna, Montalcino etc etc.
What we enjoyed most was a small restaurant called Malborghetto which is located in a small village just down the road from the apartment in Lecchi. The food was amazing and we even did a cooking course there one day which I highly recommend.
What was also good was the pool (not heated, but the temps at the time in June were hot enough that the pool was very refreshing) and the late evening sunsets. A nice glass of Chianti red relaxing by the pool is hard to beat.
The apartment itself is very decent. We had 4 people staying (two couples) and it met our needs well. A second double bed would have been ideal for our second couple, but the single beds were totally fine. All beds were nice and comfy. Bedding and linen is provided.
Gabriele was very accommodating, and as it's run as a B&B he was available all day if we every needed anything.
If you want a place that's handy to everything in Chianti and the Sienna area, and that's a nice place to come home to then I'd recommend Gabriele's apartment. If you have a larger group, it would probably work for you too as the estate has several other apartments (converted authentic farm houses) on it.
Very nice stonehouse between vineyards with everything you need. The weather wasn't too good when we were there but the yacuzzi really made up for that.
