Did you know?
In 1934, R.M. Schindler built the first modern A-frame house, for owner Gisela Bennati, in Lake Arrowhead, California. Architects Walter Reemelin, John Campbell, George Rockrise, Henrik H Bull, and Andrew Geller helped to popularize Schindler's idea in the early 1950s, designing A-frame vacation homes. In 1955, Andrew Geller built an A-frame house on the beach in Long Island, New York, known as the Elizabeth Reese House. Geller's design won international attention when it was featured in The New York Times on May 5, 1957. Before long, thousands of A-frame homes were being built around the world. (Wikipedia)

Neighborhood highlights

Our A-frame is located within a private community along Greenwood Lake's "Gold Coast" aka East Shore, an area known for its log cabins and sunset vistas. In fact, The Boulders, the home that J.P. Morgan built on the lake, is just down the road from us. (This home remains on the National Register of Historic Places.)
The area is filled with wonderful outings all year round. We border both Sterling Forest and the Appalachian Trail for boundless hiking and biking in spring. In the summer enjoy all the delights of lakeside water life! Some other favorite pastimes are winery/distillery tastings and tours, shopping at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets and farm-to-table dining experiences. In the fall, pick some juicy apples at the surrounding orchards. In the winter, go skiing or tubing at the local slope, Mt. Peter, just 15 min away, or 30 min to Mountain Creek. We also work with Upstate Outpost, a local concierge company if you'd like to plan something special like private yoga, in-house catering or excursions.
