About this listing
A very cosy Victorian house, situated in a quiet area of South London.
You will have your own comfortable room and bathroom, and a table in the garden for breakfast al fresco! We also have internet and a 55-inch TV.
We are located in zone 2, and a 10 minute walk from Elephant and Castle tube station(zone 1), and only a few minutes walk away to the Walworth Road where you can find many shops, amenities and services. Also very close to East Street market, a great daily market that sells fruit, veg and fish. We also have a corner shop near to the house which is great for buying basic provisions.
There are amazing bus connections to most of London, and all are located near to the house. By bus:
Central London - 20-30 minutes
East End/Brick Lane/Spitalfields Market - 25 minutes
Borough Market - 10 minutes
There are bikes for rent on the main road, or you can walk to Southbank and Tate Modern.
Nearby Burgess Park, which has been recently refurbished is a 5 minute walk away and offers a great place for a long stroll!
Lovely, quiet neighborhood. Great central location. The flat came fully prepared with all the home comforts. I love living like a local while traveling and this was exactly how it felt. Thank you, Lola and Paco for the help and information.
Neighborhood was good. Easy to get to everything and grocery stores nearby. Flat was a little dingy but clean enough for my short visit. Lola was good at communicating but the person who was supposed to greet me and give me the keys I never met. I got the keys from a neighbor who had nothing to do with the rental. Wireless wasn't working and sounds like they already knew this but didn't fix the problem. In the end someone came into the flat when I was out to fix it but didn't tell me they were doing so. This made me feel a little uneasy. And it was on my second day so I had already paid for wireless access because I needed directions ect.
Most host I am told lives in Spain, not London, I was sick and was feeling very stressed when I arrived as all my attempts to contact Lola prior to arriving in London went unanswered. After arriving there with great difficulty after being told by a taxi driver that it was a "no go area", I found a note stuck on the door with 2 phone numbers to ring re getting the keys. My phone was flat and I was luckily rescued by a neighbour who phoned one of the numbers and we were told that the keys were under the front door mat.
The flat itself was OK with most things that one could want. The only problem was that Lola's possessions filled the entire flat and there was no room in the wardrobe or drawers to put any my clothes. The other initial issue was that the internet wasn't working. One of Lola's tenants who lives in another house she owns a few doors down the one who told me where the keys were) was very kind and tried to remedy this for me. I ended up buying an English simcard with data for my phone and tethering my ipad to that, and this nice young man reimbursed me for the cost. Tho other issue seemed yo be with the immediate neighbours who stated that they needed to rescue the majority of guests when they first arrived. There is also virtually no insulation between her ceiling and the flat above, making it very noisy downstairs and me having the TV on even quietly affected the sleep of the baby who sleeps directly above the loungeroom.
Having said all that, I found the area pleasant and not as the taxi driver had told me. The flat, although old and a bit run down, was good value for London and close to the city and public transport. The neighbours made me feel welcome and Lola's tenant was lovely and helpful. I just wish that Lola had been a more communicative and welcoming host.
Great neighbourhood/ transport good/ great walks to Thames/ hosts always responded ASAP/East street markets fun
Clean apartment, The owner Lola is not actually there, just some guy Paco who is not much of help.
There's a few signs of anti-israel and pro palestine stuff in the apartment which is odd, this is supposed to be a bnb not a political camp, but oh well, didnt bother me too much.
House is placed very well nearby the main center, but if yuo do not have GPS - none of the people around will know where the street is at.. so be prepared to already know how you're going to reach it at first because finding it at night was not easy, and paco was not avilable to assist either.
