Welcome to your charming private studio apartment right on Duval street! Built in 1919, it used to be called the Central Hotel because it’s located at the most central location on Duval Street bordering Southard Street and Duval Street!

Airbnb doesn't collect the Monroe County TDC tax of 5% on the rental amount for accommodations so I must request this tax amount separately after confirmation, so please look for this request from the resolution center.

The space
This in an unbelievable place and is priced right for what you get and the location. Absolutely everything is new, it was gutted and redone top to bottom. The floors and kitchen and bathroom were completely ripped out and rebuilt. All the top end appliances are brand new. The floor is completely new, the ceiling fans, new, lights, new, the bathroom with huge slab tile and solid glass partition, all new and amazing. When you walk in you are overwhelmed with a Wow factor! The biggest comments I hear from tenants is great location, much larger than I could imagine, clean, and silent. You may need a white noise machine to sleep because of how quiet it is. Someone who wants to be in old town on Duval in a luxury space this is more than awesome.
The building once housed the Chrysler/Desoto car dealership, a furniture store, and later a clothing store where the Beatles came to make a purchase and caused the cashier to pass out on the floor. It has since been refurbished into a beautiful art gallery, two restaurants, a bar, and the newly renovated apartments upstairs.
If this is your first time to Key West, remember to simply let go and relax. Some people try too hard their first time to do everything they can within a few days, but it's hard, and they forget to go with our island vibe. I've been here for over twenty years and although quite active, there is still a ton of things that I haven't done. I would prioritize this though, eat well, sleep well, drink or dance for fun, and make sure you at least get ON TOP of the water if not in it, so even a sunset cruise or something if you aren't into swimming or fishing.

This studio is decorated by Adam Scott Rote with a variety of his artworks. He is a world class artist and we are honored to have him decorate our unit, the Adam Scott Rote Suite in Key West Suites Hotel.

Stella Stevens calls him a pop culture icon. Debbie Reynolds says Adam is truly gifted with an eye for composition and imagination. Angie Dickinson called him her “Warhol.” Al Pacino stated, upon signing his Scarface painting, that it was the best he had ever seen. Adam has worked with Academy award winners Martin Landau, Ernest Borgnine, Al Pacino, Joan Fontaine, Patricia Neal and Goldie Hawn along with screen legends Jerry Lewis, Burt Reynolds, Angie Dickinson, Tippi Hedren, Stella Stevens, Esther Williams, Kurt Russell, Kim Novak, Debbie Reynolds, Nicholas Cage, Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Carrie Fisher, Tim Curry, Stan Lee and William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, Ali Macgraw, Famke Janssen, Loni Anderson and Barbara Eden. He has a loyal following of collectors including his royal highness Abdullah Al-Saud, Turner Classic Movies Vice President of Talent Darcy Hettrich, veteran television producer and director Karen Grace Cadle and director George Lucas.

Rote is an award -winning painter whose work throughout the last decade has been influenced by architecture, fashion and classic cinema. Adam is a self- taught artist who studied early iconic artists including pinup legends Vargas and McGinnis as well as master realist painter Charles Bell, Hyper-realist painter Hajime Sorayama, who set the stage for the elegant and breath-taking style of his paintings. By utilizing acrylic paint, gouache, airbrush and watercolor pencils in unison with a brilliant emphasis on high contrast, Adam brings to life images of the past with an ultramodern feel. His dynamic subjects and signature transparent technique have earned him a loyal following of collectors, including Academy Award winners, actors, and singers. Adam’s paintings have also been featured in books, magazines, movies, and television. Adam Scott Rote Has teamed with Iconic Hollywood Silver Screen Legends for exclusive co-signed limited edition prints featuring his famous Drive-In Daze paintings.

Guest access
The 677 sq.ft. studio apartment boasts 10-foot ceilings with fans, 2 King beds (Sealy Posturepedic) plus a Queen size pull out leather sofa bed, huge 55-inch Samsung 4k smart tv, HD cable, Keurig coffee maker, full kitchen with pots, pans, plates etc., fridge with ice maker, stove/range, full length mirror, large window looking onto Duval and Southard street, complimentary extreme speed xfinity Wi-Fi and a huge luxury shower for rinsing off your salt of the sea.

Other things to note
The clean fee of $175 is not negotiable because this is what our cleaners charge to us.

-Monroe County Tourist Development (TDC) tax for Florida Keys accommodations :

There is extra tax due that Airbnb doesn't collect. For tax on the rental portion, they only collect the sales tax for Florida of 6%, and the Monroe County discretionary tax of 1.5%, but they don't collect the Monroe County TDC tax of 5% on accommodations, although they do for some other counties. So, although you paid 7.5% tax on the rent and fees, there is still another 5% due on the rent and fees. The tax is based on your gross rent, and the clean fee.

-Parking: Parking is public on the street at metered spaces. You must provide your own parking. The cheapest way to park is to first unload your car at Key West Suites Hotel after paying the meter, then park and pay at the City owned “Park and Ride” corner of Grinnell and Caroline Street, then simply walk everywhere. You can walk from the garage to the unit or keep the parking stub and ride their free shuttle or the free Duval Loop bus. Just Google Duval Loop Bus Key West and it should come up, and on their bus route map it also shows the City Parking lots around Key West. Most of the street parking and lots cap out at 10 hours and have to be refilled every 10 hours or so, but some lots let you refill every 24 hours. It's about $32 to $36 per day to park. There’s usually plenty of parking though close to very close to the unit.

There are nice beaches nearby, go to Ft. Zachary Taylor beach, which is very nice, or Smather's beach, very relaxing, sometimes some kite surfers and small wedding groups.
There are restaurants a plenty, and right next to the unit is some of the very best, Miso Happy Thai and one of the two best sushi restaurants, Kojin an awesome noodle place, I have a Saigon Salad addiction there, The café across the street which although mostly vegetarian has the most incredible shrimp stir fry known to man, La Trattoria across the street half a block has reasonable prices of fine Italian dining and the quality is off the charts, and for breakfast and lunches Cuban coffee queen is at the bottom of the stairs, and keys coffee across the street has in my opinion the best cold nitro coffee and beyond delicious sandwiches. And outside the one-half block area are also many, many excellent places to eat. Sloppy Joes is good for a lunchtime eat and becomes and actually pretty good nightclub when it gets dark. Great music bars that locals always go to is Green Parrot, Hogs Breath and Schooner Wharf. Certainly, check out the fine art gallery down below, Key West Gallery. There’s great eating next door, the noodle shop Kojin, Thai and the best sushi Miso Happy, Cuban coffee queen for breakfast and lunch, keys coffee across the street with excellent sandwiches, Mr. Z's cheesesteaks across the street, the best vegetables at the Café across the street, fine dining within a block, great live music venue bars also within a block, and a quarter mile from Fort Zachary State Park beaches.
