Everybody loves staying at Casa Verde! Our central location is hard to beat, since we are close to downtown, SAIT, the University, and the highway out to Banff. Daughter Jasmyn (11) is the official "manager" but Dad helps out too! Check us out!
Hi everyone! Please have a complete airbnb profile and picture before making a booking request. Thank you, and welcome in advance to Calgary!
*** About Casa Verde (our house) ***
Close to everything! Stampede, University of Calgary, SAIT, Kensington pubs, cafes, and shops, and downtown. Also next to a huge park with a small lake, kids' playground, and biking trails. Probably one of the best locations in the city -- quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything.
Your "manager" is 10 year old Jasmyn, who earns money by looking after guests and keeping the house comfortable and tidy. So airbnb is her little "business". Of course, Dad helps out too.
Your hosts are world travellers who speak English, French, Spanish, and American Sign Language. We really enjoy meeting cool travellers from all over, for short or long stays. Our house is simple, clean, well-located, comfortable, and full of oddball art projects.
We've had guests from 14 countries and counting! We're in an ideal spot if you are visiting Calgary for SAIT, U of C, English language schools, or to go skiing or hiking in the Rockies. We're just over one hour from Banff; around two hours to Lake Louise (by car).
We're also great as a "landing base" if you are new to the city. We can guide you through everything you need to know if you're making Calgary your new home, in English or French or even Sign Language! (Spanish might be a bit harder but we're working on it!).
Our guests are welcome to share the kitchen, the backyard firepit, the musical instruments all over the house, and the art wall. We invite you to make yourselves at home and explore Calgary at your pace.
Check us out if you (email hidden) and we look forward to meeting you!

Great X 5 and more.
Great fun people, obviously well traveled and used to having guests and making them comfortable. At Ryan's house, one feels at home immediately.
Great room, comfy, well heated and decorated in the creative way that characterizes the house- more decoration in progress, I will make sure I go back as I am curious to see what it is going to be like. Great food, a shared meal was more than welcome after a long day on the road.
Great location, nice and quiet, plenty of parking space, open views at the end of the street and within walking distance of everything one needs.
Great weather ! Ryan I am so grateful you ordered sunshine for my stay !
I recommend the experience to Air B&B travelers.
As I'm writing this review, I'm sitting at the table staring at an incredible wall-size mural. There's a wicked picture of an owl drawn by a 9 year old close by (the picture is in the airbnb picture description somewhere) There's funky music playing, and one of the walls has disco-lights shining against it. This pretty much sums up the place, and the people who live here! Vibrant, super friendly, and delightfully bizarre. I needed a base for a few days while I was in town, and felt very welcome around here (Ryan even offered to pick me up from the airport!) Oh and there's Stella! Stella is the friendliest cat. She's currently meowing at me and rubbing against my legs.
Just yes - to everything and everyone here. :)
For my stay in Calgary, I originally booked with Darren, a different Airbnb host. But when I arrived, I was locked out. I spent nearly two frustrating hours of back and forth communication yet he never came to the condo with the keys. Upset with Airbnb, I ended up taking off to the Sheraton.
Scrambling for another place to stay, I contacted Ryan. He originally was not prepared to take me as a guest, but he went above and beyond the call of duty and made room for me. I spent the next two nights in his cozy, welcoming home. Ryan successfully reinstated the integrity of Airbnb by simply caring for his guest! I cannot recommend Ryan enough! He's a total superhero!
Ryan, Jasmyn and Stephanie are brillant (that is the first thing I thought about them and it still remains) and open minded. They are friendly and really welcoming. They share they house with pleasure and modesty, and they are always there if you've got one problem or need without being oppressive. They are curious about their hosts and you can feel that they really enjoy welcoming people in their nest, which is really appreciable. I really had a great stay with them! It was my first week alone in Calgary and they made me feel home and discover their world. You really live with them but you keep all your independance. I strongly recommand them and their house!
The room is comfortable and the neighbourhood is quiet. There is a great park at 2minutes from the house!
I had a great time at Casa Verde! The room was cozy, the bed comfortable, and I had full use of the kitchen. Ryan, Jasmyn, and Stephanie were great hosts and I enjoyed getting to know them (even if it was a short time). The house was very comfortable and it felt like home the month I was there. I also loved the cat, Stella! She is so friendly and sweet. The house itself is in a cute and quiet neighborhood with a park nearby.
Our stay in Calgary was made so much more than a visit to the Stampede due to the hospitality of Ryan, Stephanie and Jasmyn. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed in and made to feel as though it was ours to share.
The room is perfect, with plenty of storage and a comfy bed, and the rest of the house is just as lovely (the living room is a brilliant place to cuddle up to Stella the cat and watch a movie). It's also in a great location, close to several supermarkets on foot, or the bus stop is just around the corner. Across the road is a huge green park where we spent quite a bit of our time on lazy days.
It was great being able to share in everyone's travel stories, as well as get all the advice we needed about getting around the city and to the mountains.
We'll definitely be requesting a stay at Casa Verde next time we're in Calgary.
Ryan and his daughter Jasmyn are Canadians living in Calgary since 2004. We love the city, the great people, the nearby mountains, and our artsy house. We have travelled all over the world together, even to India when Jasmyn was 3 years old! We enjoy meeting people from around the world, and look forward to many more travel adventures.
Travels so far include Chile, California, Costa Rica, India, Ireland, Germany, UK, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Fiji, New Zealand, Alaska, New York, Kauai, Nevada, Arizona, Louisiana, DC, Wyoming, Montana and counting!
Guests at our house are generally treated like visiting royalty from another planet. We totally get the travel thing, and know that you need a simple and straightforward and trustworthy "base" to carry out the Calgary phase of your voyage. We guarantee that, while not fancy, our wee abode is comfy, safe, full of interesting and reliable people, and above all a sanctuary of free expression and openness. We are ridiculously helpful, totally honest and blunt, respectful, sensitive to foreign cultures and traditions and orientations, and as a bonus --- we can cook!!! Music is a big part of life here, so if you feel inclined to channel your muse ... or just pick up one of the many instruments hanging about ... then go nuts.
Nous parlons français ici, y también español, que nos encanta, ein bischen deutsch, and American Sign Language.
