It was an awesome stay! Loved wandering the grounds and seeing all the animals (chickens, horse, dogs, cats). Karen was fabulous and was nice enough to make a reservation for our group at a local restaurant- wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was very nice to get away from the cities for a night and to experience and live in such a historical and unique place. Karen was very kind and helpful, and even offered to make us reservations at a local seafood place that we may not have been able to get as visitors. Karen and her uncle live on site, and she made herself available for anything we may have needed. I would recommend this experience to anyone in the area! It served as a wonderful location to stop over between Galway and the Cliffs of Moher. I would definitely stay at Kilcolgan Castle again.

The Castle is special for many reasons. I would not be able to adequately describe the beauty and serenity of this property in words alone. One has to actually take up residence for a few days to take in the sea air, the views, the village and the foods. Karen is the epitome of a skilled host and she cares very much about your Irish experience. Highlights were visiting Morgan's Oyster House, pouring over some lovely antique books in the castle library and seeing/walking the incredible grounds. Karen is an amazing host and she allows for one to experience staying in an actual, working, running castle for a reasonable price. First class accomodation!

We really enjoyed our stay at the castle. This place is pretty extraordinary. One of our favorite nights on our trip across Ireland took place at this castle when we made ourselves some Irish coffees and enjoyed the sitting room and the peat fire. Karen was very accommodating and the grounds/location was beautiful. One word of advice...if you stay here and want to take part in any horseback riding opportunities, check with Karen, the host, when you book. We took for granted that it would be available when we read that part of the description and it turned out that the gentleman who did this was gone at the time so we had to book riding elsewhere. We would definitely stay here again.

Great stay at the castle! Its a little jaw dropping to pull down the winding drive to the castle you'll be staying in for a few nights. Karen gave some great local tips, including going to see the Tyrone house just down the street...totally worth it. She also made a great reservation for us at Morans Oyster (URL HIDDEN) of the best meals we had on our tour of Ireland. Thanks again Karen!

Great spot. Really is a castle and feels like such. Building and grounds were both very beautiful. A lot of history about the grounds available throughout the space. Host lives in one wing, her uncle lives on second floor. Bedrooms were on the third floor.
