House Rules

Smoking is ok on the balcony....you need to be cat friendly and not allergic to them. They live with me!!!!
My kitchen is kosher so you are welcome to use it if you are willing to respect the kashrut. If you do not know then I can teach you the basics so that you can have breakfast (and cook if you want). You are also welcome to join me for shabbat meals.
There is a shared bathroom in the apartment that you are welcome to use.
During Passover I would prefer to have kashrut observant people.

You are of course welcome to make use of the washer....I will show you how to operate it. You won't be able to use it on Shabbat.
Although I am a very social person I would prefer if you would let me know if you would like to have guests over. But after 9 pm I do not accept any guests in the apartment.

Fantastic location near transportation, shuls, attractive stores, groceries, and kosher restaurants. I took my local grandchildren to the many pleasant, family friendly parks in the area. The Tachana Rishona is within walking distance, and that is a great place for all ages. I walked back "home" from Ben Yehuda and also from the kotel. Emek Refaim, just a block away, has an exciting and fun night life. There was a night run that went on Emek Rafaim and it was a delightful and healthy party atmosphere, not wild at all. Family friendly. Also, Anna's home is near the Rakefet, which is a treat to walk. Beautiful neighborhood. Super clean, organized, attractive accommodations. Tastefully decorated, with a large collection of china. Also original oil paintings. Great cats, Sheleg and Gili. Anna was very nice about accommodating my husband for part of the stay and also later accommodating my adult daughter for a few nights. Unlike some hosts, Anna gives you personal space and doesn't pry. The bathroom is extremely clean, updated, and quite spacious. I would suggest bringing water shoes because the shower, as with most Israeli bathrooms, becomes extremely slippery when wet. The shower is adequate, but North Americans need to realize it is a standard Israeli bathroom (although larger than most) as Anna told me beforehand. The mirpeset is pretty, and a delightful place to sit. Also, it might be helpful to be aware that there are about 24 steps up to the apartment.

Anna is very friendly and easy-going, I enjoyed my stay with her and will be happy to stay with her again. And the location is the best you could wish for in Jerusalem, specially if you want to feel like a local.

The location is great. The rest was very trying. I wouldn't stay here long term ever. i personally wouldn't stay here again. i think I've described my experience in my previous answers.

Response from Anna:
My general response to Anastasia's "accusations": 1. there seems to have been a major communications problem between the two of us, as explained below: 2. the A/C is not broken, just makes noises as it is not new, which I pointed out to the guest. I also pointed out that she is welcome to use it, if she is not bothered by the noise . A fan was provided for the nights which in Jerusalem is usually enough. 2. the shutter is broken which I also mentioned, but in the beginning the guest was not bothered by light and/or noise, only at the end of the stay did she mention that the light/the neighbors' dog/the neighbors were bothering her. the "sarcastic" comment that only towards the end of her stay because "scared" of the review did I bother trying to fix the shutter is besides the point, as she would have received a curtain if she had asked at the beginning and did not say that it did not bother her. again here there seems to have been a total lack of communication. 3. the matter of cleaning the room: it is true that there is a lot of dust in the apartment, but it is nowhere stated that during the stay of the guest I am to clean the room. this is not a hotel. I gave the guest a perfectly clean room upon arrival, changed bed linen every week and towels twice a week. I do not think that I have to make the bed and clean after the guest in her room. the cleaning fee applies to cleaning before a guest arrives and after the departure. 4. Fridge space: again a matter of communication, the guest never asked for more space. Freezer: indeed there was no space in my freezer, and I do not offer use of freezer space. 5. Use of washer: I do NOT allow to operate the washer, as on a previous occasion a guest broke my washer, which I had to replace at my own expense. I however offer to wash things and stated clearly at what times I do so. Again the lack of communication is evident. I washed her things every time she asked for, but do not think that I am supposed to hang it also, it seems enough that I put in her room or in front of her door. 6. the episode about not "being my guests' mother" was referred to hanging her washing and generally cleaning up after her. this is how I felt throughout the stay of this guest as I was permanently cleaning up the common areas such as kitchen and bathroom after her. 7. about my sarcastic comments: none of my comments were meant sarcastically, but I felt most of the times used as a cleaner...and my comments might have reflected my exasperation 8. Summing up I would describe this guest as having a total lack of communication skills, as well as consideration for the person sharing the place with her. I will not go into petty accusations...you did this or that as this is not my style, but I suggest that this guest stays in a hotel where there are people whose job it is to clean after other people. 9. I would like to add that my other reviews show pretty well what my place is like and how I host guests and communicate with them.

Anna was a wonderful host for my 10 night stay. Anna helped me with all my practical questions, and we had some good conversations about life in Jerusalem. The accommodations were very comfortable and very close to buses, shops, restaurants, and just about anything you would need. I am glad I decided to stay at Anna's!

Anna's place in the German Colony was really nice. The room is large and has a fan and an air-conditioner. Bed was comfortable and there is plenty of privacy. Bathroom was clean. There's a grocery maybe 30 seconds away from her place and of course the whole Emek Refaim street is loaded with everything you could imagine. Her apartment is one flight up , nothing to it. The cats were adorable and if your not into cats, just close the door of your room (they are out of the apartment anyway , most of the time) I extended my stay at her place because it was so pleasant.
