We love the small village of Coolaney less than a mile away, it has a shop, petrol pump, pubs and a takeaway. There is also a great beach, Dunmoran Strand 10 minute's drive away and a country market every Saturday morning close by in Beltra village. The cottage is situated on the Ladie's Bea scenic route which makes it ideal for beautiful walks.

We had a great stay at Rathosey cottage - a lovely haven tucked away in the woods which is extremely quiet and peaceful. We didn't have the good fortune of meeting Marilin, but she was extremely helpful and communicative throughout our entire stay and gave us great recommendations for places to go around Co. Sligo. Rathosey cottage was very cozy, although when the fire isn't lit it does have a tendency to get a bit chilly, so bring slippers for the tile floors and an extra sweater! Great location, great people, great rustic cottage and couldn't have asked for more from a weekend getaway. Thanks again to Marilin!
Marilin looked after us really well and made sure everything was just perfect. We loved the welcoming fire and made sure the central heating stayed on to keep us cosy. What a sweet cottage, just right for the two of us. It felt secluded and had a feel of days gone by with the farms, goat, old trails and moss growing on the trees. Lots of little birds too. The forest walk had spectacular views.
Marilin and her cottage could not be sweeter. Lovely location in close proximity to tons of great adventures. Very cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed, including detailed instructions on the operation of the systems in the house and directions to local businesses and attractions. Also, on a rainy February evening it was great to enter to a burning fire and a warm welcome. Highly recommended.
Very special location! We enjoyed so much our stay in the cottage. We did not have the pleasure to meet Marilin, but her parents where there to welcome us with the fireplace on. Thanks very much for that!
The cottage is very cosy and everything was very tidy and organised. With car you can arrive easily to the close towns and you can have whatever you need.
I highly recommend it, authentic place! We would love to come back ;)
Lovely cottage, exactly as described. Rural setting, among fields and woods. Within easy reach of beautiful beaches, seaweed baths, and Sligo town.
Coolaney village is a short walk away, along an old right-of-way. Friendly people, with a pleasant river-walk, well maintained by the local community as part of its Tidy Towns initiative.
Warm welcome from Marilin and her father Jack, fire was lit when I arrived, with fuel etc. for the next few days. Also bread, milk and butter. Very well equipped, all bedclothes, towels and tea-towels supplied, together with all utensils. Spotlessly clean, beds aired and freshly laundered.
Central heating as well as an open fire meant that the cottage was warm, even in the cold damp weather. Added bonus: lovely neighbour, Séan, nice to know there was someone nearby.
I can highly recommend this lovely old cottage, and its host, and I hope to get back some day, in the not too distant future. Thanks again, Marilin, for a lovely stay.
We really enjoyed staying in the nice cottage! Marilin welcomed us when we arrived and already had the fireplace on. The rooms were very tidy and we had everything we needed. We would really like to come back one day!
Convenient location for a trip with the kids to nearby Eagles Flying; a particularly nice change of scenery for our city-dwelling little boy. Loved the house itself. It had all we needed and was cleverly laid out. Our son had the middle bedroom upstairs and decided to switch around his pillow to watch shooting stars out the window above his head (that you see in the photo). Spot-on directions too! Hope to stay again for longer and check out more of Sligo in future.
I grew up here in Sligo and although I spent many enjoyable years studying in Galway and working in Cornwall, my family and I returned home to live because we love it here.
I'm very interested in Art, always baking and I love the wildlife and beautiful scenery in Sligo.
It is really enjoyable and interesting to meet people from other places and make them at home while they discover or revisit Sligo, my experience of Air bnb is very positive.
