Fonzie is our house rabbit who loves to lounge around, eat and sleep.
The room is bright and very cozy. The community is a friendly, safe and warm refuge from busy city life.
no smoking. loud noise after 10pm, guests sleeping over. Clean up after yourself and leave your shoes at the front door.
Lounge area that leads up to bedroom. (Fonz the rabbit in the foreground is often waiting to say hi)
Camella's place is very nice and cozy (not too big though), and good value for money in this area (I think). Camella is an excellent host and made me feel right at home. We didn't interact very much (due to my work schedule) but whenever we met Camella was nice and very easy going.
Had a great stay, Camella was very welcoming and helpful, room was comfortable and accurately described. Having a fridge in the room was very helpful!
It was a wonderful experience. The room was exactly as described, very clean, comfortable and peaceful. Camella is a great host.
In our few emails and one phone conversation Camella was very sweet and helpful. The neighborhood in general is quiet, green and feels secluded from the the not far off hustle and bustle. The few neighbors I encountered were warm. The space was clean and tidy. If I was crashing while going to a wedding or sports event and or it was free or $30...this compromised space might have been fine.
However, I needed this space as a respite between days of business, and it just didn't work.
The quiet of the area was shattered by the nearby train whistle until 10pm or so resuming at 7. The apt flush against my wall had kids being put to bed and woken late and then early.
Though one can walk freely though the space...it is all incredibly congested with stuff, decor, books, art, hangings The kitchen unusable with pots and pans in the sink on counters. Everyplace tight and dark. No good lighting anywhere, even to read in bed. And one outlet seems to be connecting the whole upstairs.
Add to this the pet bunny. Cute...but...Where is it? Will I step on it...or it's leavings? Will I leave the door open? Will it bite me? Can I leave my luggage downstairs for fear of it nibbling on it or deficating?
The bathroom has a loud vent like a motel. Soft water like a motel. Bedroom small. Poor light blocking of outside light. Lumpy hard mattress.
The value here is that it is sweet and charming and a little bohemian. But when i consider I could have had a simple clean quiet space where I could organize for my next job in a motel for just $20 more (bottom line to bottom line)... it makes for a funny story but not a worthwhile business alternative.
So sorry you did not have a positive experience. FYI, the kitchen is not part of usable space as you have adequate amenities in your room. When I am dehydrating, it is a lot of equipment. Fonzie is house trained and is also a listed part of what to expect in the house. I am glad that you now have a funny story to tell everyone. That may have been the best part of what was I know a very long day for you. There are plenty of motels in the area but no guarantees about people going about normal daily life in total silence.
Camella was lovely and accommodating, the room is exactly as it is described and the bed is really comfortable! Clean, quiet, wonderful place to retreat after a wedding in Los Altos Hills! I totally recommend staying here!
As much as I would have loved to meet and chat with Camella, we were never home at the same time. Nevertheless, my stay at her place was great! The location was easily accessible, and her home, the room, and the bathroom were all neatly kept. The only quirk about this place is that the walls are thin, but I could only hear the neighbors during the daytime and not a peep at all during the night. Definitely recommend!

About the Host, Camella
I am a yoga teacher and share the house part of the time with my 2 teenage sons They are at their dads about half of the time. I like a fairly quiet life and would appreciate a sane lodger with a good sense of humor and who is ok with having teenagers around sometimes. I am a good cook and can often be found cooking in Master's Kitchen (the community kitchen) We have a house rabbit called Fonzo who roams about the house He is potty trained but if you keep your books and cables on the floor he may well chew them up
