Bright bedroom (with skylight) available to travelers in clean, comfortable, single-family Cape-style home in quiet, safe Boston area neighborhood.
Close to both city sites and out-of-town adventure destinations (for skiing, hiking, etc,.).
The guest bedroom accommodates up to 3 guests with:
-- Queen size bed
-- Single bed
In addition, there is a:
-- DECK for sipping your morning Coffee or your evening cocktail.
-- Wood stove (indoors)
-- Washer and dryer
-- Gas GRILL and fire pit (outdoors)
-- Large private BACKYARD where guests can play Frisbee, ball, horseshoe's, etc.,
Guests will have access to my kitchen, the living areas, the bathroom on the main floor, yard and laundry room (when it's available).
My office, bedroom and basement workroom are the only areas off limits to guests.
Interaction with Guests
I enjoy having guests and learning about their culture(s) and countries, but I also respect their privacy (if they seem to need it).
If it works out that we share a meal or even just a cup of tea, then great; but extensive interaction is never required.
I travel periodically, but generally I am here when guests stay in my home.
-- Mostly single-family owner occupied homes
-- Plenty of free on-street parking
-- Short walk to the Middlesex Fells reservation (forest) for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiiing, swimming and snowshoeing.
-- Nearby zoo, parks and playgrounds
-- 10 minute drive into downtown Boston and the AIRPORT.
-- Trip into Boston by public transit takes approximately 40 minutes.
-- TAXI ride from the airport takes approximately 10 minutes and, with tip, costs about $40 (as of 1/2014). It's worth the cost after a long flight.
-- 5 minute drive to the nearest MBTA station.
Other Things to Note
I take my role as host seriously - in the guest room, I make sure that there are bed side lamps, menus, books to read, tourist brochures, maps, a guest book to sign, clean sheets and access to extra blankets.
I provide soft fresh towels for guests and let them have almost exclusive access to the bathroom on the main floor.
Needless to say, I make sure that the house is clean and tidy, and that the outside is presentable, as well. My goal is to make sure that my guests are happy and comfortable.
MI CASA ES SU CASA ("My Home is Your Home" in Spanish") which, to me, means help yourself to the common spaces (kitchen, living room, yard), laundry facilities, gas grill and Fire pit. I also hope in return that guests will treat my home as if it were there own.
For the enjoyment of all please keep in mind the following:
-- CLEAN up after yourself. I am not always home between departing and arriving guests so please leave any spaces that you use (bedroom, bathroom, etc,..) as clean as you found them.
-- Smoke ONLY outside and away from house (not out a window) and DISPOSE of butts properly in a trash receptacle.
-- Be considerate of others in terms of NOISE and SPACE.
-- CONSERVE resources (water, electricity, heat) which includes: reusing towels, turning off heat/lights/AC when they're not needed.
-- Remove shoes and leave them by the front door.
Thanks so much!
I enjoyed staying with Karina. Everything was as described. Parking is readily available on her and next streets over. She is only a few minutes to downtown Boston.
This was my first time using Airbnb and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. I was quite nervous about the whole thing, but Karina made everything so simple that I didn't need to worry. She wasn't there for the majority of our stay, but she left everything clearly marked so there was no confusion of what we were supposed to do. I stayed in the Queen bed and thought it was very comfortable. Free street parking was a major help. We spent our whole time in Boston and it was easy to drive to the Oak Grove Station 5 mins away, park for $6, and take the hugely convenient T line into the center of Boston. It would have been too far of a walk though I think. I really enjoyed staying a bit out of the city - it was like coming home after a long day. I only met Karina as we were leaving but her and her husband were very nice and I had a nice chat with them. The only negative for me was that me and my boyfriend are both very allergic to cats and she has two, but we knew that going into the booking and decided we'd suck it up because the house was too nice and affordable to pass up!
Charmante petite maison dans la proche banlieue de Boston, propre, confortable et calme la nuit. Karina nous a très bien reçu, et nous avons pu converser avec elle malgré notre anglais approximatif. Très bon rapport qualité/prix.
she wasn't home and the description doesn't match the online description. The room looks perfect in picture, but online not too good.
The house is not far from Boston and the room is big enough for a family. Katrina will make you feel like at home. She is a very trustworthy person. I would definitely stay again in this house if I'd come by Boston again.
Communication and instructions (how to enter the house and use the facilities) where very clear. The neighbourhood is quit and easy to locate. The garden is big and relaxing. For people with fysical difficulties perhaps not so easy due to the staircase (2x) and matras on the floor. Must be a cat lover! Both cats are very friendly and dont mind being cuddled. We have not met Karina in person.
The host was not there so we just follow the instruction and check in was exactly as described so that's good. The neighborhood is nice also.
I am a Professor of Computer Science at a local college in Boston.
When I am not grading papers or preparing lectures, I am cycling, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing or traveling.
I signed up to host guests on Airbnb because:
1) I have 2 extra rooms that otherwise sit empty
2) I love to travel myself
3) I keep my home clean and guest ready anyway, so it doesn't take too much time out of my busy life to prepare for new arrivals...
4) I love to be a hostess - to make people feel comfortable and welcome.
