This chic and comfortable place is a quiet getaway with a beautiful private patio for relaxing. But it's also within walking distance to all the excitement of Sunset Blvd. Elysian park is only 2 blocks away, as are a ton of great local spots

The space
This charming little getaway sits on a quiet street in one of Los Angeles' most exciting neighborhoods. Wake up to gentle morning light and the sounds of birds singing in the city. You can make yourself a cup of coffee on the vintage stove and then take it out to the swing on the private front porch. This is a one bedroom apartment that occupies one half of a 1923 craftsman. It has a ton of old school character with lots of modern day amenities like A/C, wifi, ipod stereo, and internet streaming TV.

The bedroom is generously appointed with deluxe linens, vintage details and an antique armoire for hanging your clothes. If you play music, you will be delighted to practice on the Korg piano we have provided you. We love to host musicians, as we both play music and Ben was in a touring band for years. He currently works in the music industry, developing amps for a major company, and he can fix almost any piece of gear!

The couch in the living room folds down to fit two additional guests. We provide a memory foam mattress topper to make the sleeper extra cozy.

There's a television with internet access so you can watch movies on your Netflix, hulu or amazon prime account. We also have an HD antennae so that you may access all the network stations and more. For further entertainment, there are games, books and DVDs

This is a gorgeous place just waiting for you to call it your home away from home!

Where you’ll be

Los Angeles, California, United States

Echo Park is one of America's hippest neighborhoods. I am not nearly cool enough to live here, but luckily there are a ton of other reasons to love it. First there are two gorgeous parks, both within walking distance of the house. The first is the eponymous Echo Park with its fountain and lotus flowers. It's been newly renovated and is more beautiful than ever. Eat brunch at the boathouse, then take a paddle boat for a spin around the lake. The second, Elysian Park, is only two blocks up the hill from you. It is the second largest park in Los Angeles and encompasses several great hiking trails and Dodger Stadium. If you want to catch a game, walking from the house is much easier and faster than driving. There are also a ton of great coffee shops, restaurants and vintage stores all within walking distance. Musicians seem to congregate to this area. We have quite a few noted musicians as neighbors, and my husband works in the music business. (Need gear fixed? He's your man!) There are also great venues like The Echo, The Echoplex, Satellite and Silverlake lounge all within 10 minutes from here.

The first time I traveled abroad, I rented a small apartment in the Trastevere in Rome. I loved being part of a neighborhood, experiencing the city as a local instead of a tourist. I am so pleased that I can now offer my guest house so other visitors may also have the same "local" experience. I am active in the volleyball community in LA. When not on the courts, I can be found tending the vegetable garden in my font yard, playing ukulele in a band with my husband, or cooking something delicious. Pies are my specialty! I also have a day job in the entertainment industry. Although I have eaten at my fair share of Michelin starred restaurants, I find myself craving the comfort foods from small, ethnic dives. My friends frequently ask me about the best cheap restaurants, bars, vintage shops or cultural experiences in the area. My husband, Ben, and I were high school sweethearts. We grew up in Indiana and share the same Midwestern sense of hospitality, responsibility and friendliness that Hoosiers are famous for. We are always up for a chat with anyone who shares our quirky sense of humor.
